Absolutely beautiful, stunning facility. Staff was tremendously courteous and nice. The rooms are a work of art. Your own private pool. Your own private outdoor bed, bathtub, sunning area and hammock. Inside, the furnishings are beautiful and very roomy for two. Every meal, including the breakfasts that come with your stay are great. Couldn't get over the boat rides we got to take to get from the main resort to the beach. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone going down there. The only thing to be aware of is that once you get there, food, drinks, spa, etc aren't exactly the cheapest. They're good but you do pay a bit for them. Other than that, wouldn't change a thing. Thank you Banyan Tree Mayakoba

Our stay was too short but it was enough to make us return again soon.

It's an amazing experience!

The w bedroom villa was very clean, all the amenities were first class, and the decoration was just what we were expecting to make us feel relaxed and at home.

We came to the Banyan Tree Mayakoba to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. It was totally worth everything we paid. The private villas are amazing, you have your private pool, garden and an exterior bathtub. Beds are sooo comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The restaurants have great food, seriously. By far, my favorite hotel ever!! I´d love to come back soon!! Literally, heaven on earth!!

We stayed at the Banyan Tree Mayakoba for a week in February for our anniversary and had a great experience.

The resort staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and seem to genuinely enjoy working there. Always happy to have a chat and offer advice on the resort, the grounds, Mexico in general – as nature lovers – we have learned a lot about the birds and animals that reside in Mexico and where offered great tips on when and where we could have the best sightings. We even managed to catch a lemur in action on the golf course!

Food was fantastic – particularly enjoyed the amazing breakfast spread. The beach Mexican restaurant was also great (would particularly recommend the soft shell crab tacos – incredible). We would have liked to see more choice of Mexican food in the evenings, as the Beach restaurant is not open all nights, and it felt odd to eat in a Thai restaurant (although we heard the food is truly top class there).

The resort grounds are beautiful and don’t disturb the local wildlife which means there are a lot of geckos, birds, lemurs & even 2 crocodiles running around.

Villas are fantastic – we’ve stayed in the basic garden villa which was lovely. Fantastic turn down services, every evening we received a mini gift along with the usual amenities – fresh water, ice etc. Only comment on the villas –the private pools really need to be heated. It was far too cold to even dip into, which unfortunately meant we did not use it even once.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be coming back!

The privacy of the villas are superb, one can swim in ones own private pool in your birthday suit with no worries.
Everyone is very friendly and accommodating to every need.
I usually like staying right on the beach, but the boat rides-definitely worth the 10 minute trip to see some wildlife-or the buggies are ready and available to get you there promptly.
There were NO BUGS except for a few ants outside, not an issue.
I enjoyed Banyan Tree so much that I cannot say enough about it, and would recommend highly to all!

My husband and I spent 3 nights here over the long weekend in January and we absolutely loved our stay. The resort is beautiful, but the highlight is the villa! We were in a courtyard pool villa, and it was huge. The villas are two separate buildings (the pavilion and the bedroom / bathroom) with a pool / courtyard in the middle. The pool was heated so we actually used it, and we loved laying in the sun on the lounge chairs. The pavilion is stocked with free bottled water, coffee & tea, and a different type of fresh fruit daily (although they take away the fresh fruit from the day before, so if you want to save something make sure you hide it) The bathroom is huge and has every amenity you might need: beach towels, tons of extra towels, toothbrush and paste, bug spray, flip flops, beach bags....they have thought of everything! The service at the resort was great, everyone was so kind. If we had any kind of small issues, they did everything they could to fix them right away. One concern I had before going was with some comments about a moldy smell. The villas are right on the lagoon so it is definitely a tropical atmosphere, but we did not have any moldy smell issues.
The resort is very spread out, but a golf cart service will drive you anywhere you want to go. We ended up walking most of the time though because we found it to be quicker.
Make sure to book the nature tour when you arrive. It was already booked for the whole weekend, but they opened up a new tour for us! It is a nice way to see the surrounding hotels and to enjoy being outdoors. They should really sell cervezas on the boat though...
Our one negative about the trip was that the food was just ok. We posted separate reviews of some of the restaurants, but in general nothing was amazing. It wasn't bad at all, just not spectacular. At a five star resort (and with prices to match), we would have expected better food. The BanyanTree offers a free ride to the other hotels in the Mayakoba property (Fairmont and Rosewood) and we took advantage of this service. It was fun to see the other hotels and nice to have some more dining options (although we still didn't think the food was spectacular at the other hotels either). The Fairmont is about a 10 minute walk down the beach from the Banyan Tree. The Rosewood is further.

We used cancun transfers to drive us to and from the airport. It cost $110 for a round-trip private car for the two of us. We did have to wait about 10 minutes for the driver to show up at the airport, but other than that the service was great.

This is a fantastic hotel. We come here every year. The breakfast is incredible. The service is usually top notch, or at least they try to be. Don't rely on their time estimates. We usually get a garden villa. This time, we got a 3 bedroom townhouse. Unless you have several family members coming with you, DO NOT get the townhouse. They are nice but they do not compare to the regular rooms with the in ground pools. To start with, the town houses are essentially 3 stories with the pool on the roof. That's a lot of climbing up and down stairs, particularly if you've had anything to drink. The bedrooms also feel pretty dark as they are on the bottom floor and are completely shaded by the canopies. The bathtub is tiny in the main bedroom and there is no hot tub like there is in the main rooms. If you like golf at all, definitely try el cameleon. I don't like golf that much. I shoot about a 90 on 18 holes. But this course was incredibly scenic and service conscious. Also, don't skip the spa. Best massages my group says they have ever had. The steam rooms are a nice hangover remedy as well.

Great hotel, incredible grounds, good service. Opt for the regular, one story rooms. Not only are they less expensive they are also more practical, better lit, better equipped and way more majestic and romantic.
