For many years we've been staying at unit D-2 at Luna Encantada in Playa del Carmen. One of the best things about our stay is that not only do we gaze across the white sands directly at the blue sea and the lights of Cozumel at night, but Luna is next door to Fusion Restaurant & Bar. It is where I became utterly spoiled to shrimp ceviche. No one anywhere in the world makes it as perfectly and simply. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served right on the beach or up on the balcony of the restaurant if you prefer. It is the most true to the spirit of what one expects of a Mexican beach bar and restaurant experience to be we've ever come across.
Breakfast goes to 11am and today my daughter had yogurt and granola and chaya drink, while I had an omelet with feta - and not the fake feta served by virtually every restaurant in town, either! Big chunks of the real stuff a cappuccino that any Italian would respect. I've never had a bad meal in the 10 years we've been going there.
At sunset there is live music which we can either listen to in their beach chairs while sipping something cool, or hear from the balcony of the condo at Luna. Especially fun is watching the fire dancers that perform on the weekends. Scary and beautiful and mesmerizing. Hemingway would have loved the place - Fusion is truly a Moveable Feast of all the senses.
