Yaxche Mayan cuisine.
We were greeted at the door by a very pleasant young lady who showed us to our seat which was upstairs by the open window. It was a great seat as we could watch the comings and goings on Fifth Ave. Carlos the manager came by to introduce himself and then later to make sure we were enjoying the food and wine. Our server was Martin. He was very pleasant and courteous as well as very helpful. On his recommendation we tried a Mexican wine - Kumku - a Cabernet- Tempranillo blend. It was well paired with the very tasty food. We had the entrees that was a three -sampler of some of the main entrees. It included a beef, chicken and seafood sample. It was great that the chef prepared these dishes using original Mayan recipes. For dessert we had crepes that were prepared at our table - fun to watch! Near the end of our meal we spoke with some folks who have come to this area for many years and said after having tried many restaurants, keep coming back to Yaxche!!
