My husband and I dined there about a week ago. The food, atmosphere and services is above par. This is a restaurant worth visiting more than once while visiting Playa! We will return before we leave.

The hosts/owners are there to welcome you. It is wonderful place for a romantic dinner or a leisurely meal with friends. This year the food was very consistent and every meal a joy. The plan was to try all their dishes on the 175 pesos menu. However, I always ended up ordering the baked goat cheese appetizer which I loved but did try a few of the entrees. We look forward to coming back next year.

At 175 pesos, cash only, for three courses, plus a glass of wine, Byblos is a real bargain. Our foursome had excellent escargot prepared in the classic garlic butter sauce, grilled quail (from a local quail farm!), and panna cotta for dessert. Portions were not American size (big), but quite enough and we ordered bottles of wine instead. Service is on the slow side, but we were not in rush and enjoyed this little gem just off 5th ave across from Calle Corazon. Go now because it will close in April as the owner told us they were looking for a new location due to the lease being up. Hope they find another nice little spot. You can check their facebook site to stay in touch.

An anniversary dinner that was a very memorable event with excellent food, wine and welcoming hosts/Owners.
She, the seared tuna and braised quail. He, the escargot and braised kidneys. This topped off with a shared crepe suzette. A Spanish Rioja white was our wine selection. All items very reasonably priced and the whole experience cheaper than we expected. We ate outside at a leisurely, unhurried pace and this added to the night.
Byblos may be moving location as more of Playa's history and charm in this prestigious area is destroyed by hungry developers. I believe that the Owners will find another spot and the quality will be maintained. They are good and the food is authentic.
Best restaurant I have visited in Playa but not for the hamburger/fast-food crowd.

Located two minutes off Avenida Quinta and across from Calle Corazon, we practically stumbled upon this gem and revisited a few nights later.

We were attracted by the 175 cash only menu offering three courses and a glass of wine. On both of our visits the food was excellent. The soups were freshly made and delicious. The beef in red wine sauce was wonderful, the two different fish dishes my wife enjoyed were sublime and desserts of Panna Cotta and fresh fruit salads complemented everything else.

On our first visit we sat inside, on the second outside. Service was slow on the second visit, but we attributed that to everyone arriving together and perhaps a small kitchen. Of course they were also preparing everything freshly. In any case the food was well worth waiting for and the atmosphere was relaxing and romantic enough that we did not care.

With hundreds of restaurants in Playa, our visiting twice in seven night should speak for itself. I would describe the food here as French with a strong Italian influence. If we return to Playa, we will be back.
