We stayed in a Penthouse unit (C-3) owned by a man from Denver, who also owns a restaurant in Playa, called Wicky's. The unit was beautiful and truly made us feel at home. We always stay at hotels on vacations, so this was our first experience staying in a condo. It was amazing and fantastic...we felt so at home and able to truly relax. We had several great meals and fun times on the beach in Playa and can't wait to go back! We will definitely stay at Luna again! The view has to be by far the best of any other places on the beach, just based on the hotels location and proximity... Thanks a lot!

Stayed at Luna in C1 mid January. Absolutely the best location in Playa if you want beach and proximity to 5th avenue.

If it is outside your budget try Xaman Ha in Playacar for around $2K.

There are 2 other condotels going up within a couple of hundred yards of Luna but right now Luna has the high-end condo with pool right-on-the-beach category to itself.

We had overcast weather and rain for 3 of 5 days and the heating in pool was cranky that week but otherwise found the condo to be excatly as advertised and expected.

Did not hear BANG at all and Fusion was not over the top noisy - or late night for that matter. On the other hand Fusion is a great, realtively inexpensive place to eat right next door with good entertainment. Not bad for a midday coctail on the beach either - but with Luna you have a blender and your own spot on the beach.
Fusion is a definite plus rather than a minus.

Excellent internet and free international calls via Vonage from our unit.

We stayed for a week during spring break in A-1. What a great condo! Loved it! The staff was super, the pool great, right on the beach. I was a bit worried about the Bang club next door. Did not hear or see it, i guess it closed already. The condo has everything you need, full kitchen, great showers, comfy beds and every other day cleaning.
Loved being able to just walk out of the room and be at the pool. Our terras was in the shade all day, this worked out great since we all got sun burned.....

Shopping and restaurants are just steps away, but far enough that there is no noise at night. Loved the Fusion hotel next door for lunch, drinks and breakfast. Also close to taxis and busses for a daytrip.

All in all a great week, you can't go wrong with Luna Encantada.

We got bumped from the Azul Fives and thank goodness we did. We scrambled and found Luna Encantada WITH a last minute discount that turned out to be less than half of what we were going to pay at the Fives.
We were in unit A3 - a top floor, 3 BR unit with nice furnishings, plenty of room for 3 adults and 3 kids and a well equiped kitchen. We typically stay in condos since we like the flexibility to have a simple breakfast with the kids, snack throughout the day then have a nice big dinner out somewhere. The location is fantastic for restuarants, shopping and just walking around. We never did get on the ferry to Cozumel, but we walked down to see it.

A couple of hints I wish someone had told me...
- DO NOT use the ATMs on fith ave and if you do, DO NOT get dollars. It cost me over $600 (after xchg rate and fees) to get $500 US dollars.
- if you want extra cash, walk inland just one block and look for a real bank and use their ATMs for either dollars or pesos. They charged me only $5 for a $500 withdrawl.
- the better restaurants are north of LE on fifth. Yes, they are more expensive, but I thought well worth it.
- don't buy anything the 1st time you see it. Chances are the same item will be in another store and you can then decide what price you're willing to pay. Tell the vendor your offer, then walk away if he/she haggles and go to the other store.
- we had our kitchen stocked prior to arrival and I highly recommend this option if it is offered to you. If not, or if you want a few more things, the taxis at the top of the street will take you to the Walmart for $5 and taxis are plentiful coming back for another $5.
- the same taxis will take you to Xcaret for ~$15 and that was a fun daytrip...I could have missed the show at the end of the day.
- I tipped the maid $10 for each cleaning (every other day) and she was fantastic

The only complaints I can mention were the water was out for a couple of hours but didn't really effect anything we were doing at the time. Also, there was an foul odor a few days from the master bathroom. I think the water issue was being dealt with and had some secondary smell issues while they were in the fix it mode. Both issues warrant mention but did not detract from the vacation.

With regard to some of the other reviews and noise at night...I didn't hear anything unless I walked over to the front door and listened for it. With all the windows and doors closed there was nothing but silence. Maybe it was the location of my unit or they have fixed the noise problems.

Stayed a week in July of 2007. This place is great for families particularly ones with children. You have your own kitchen and your right off the beach! Infinity pool was amazing. THey even had floaties stocked for the little one's to use. The property was supervised 24/7 with onsite security....Andrian was the security guard who seemed to be there round the clock. The washer/dryer was WONDERFUL to have! You can go home with clothes that are relatively clean and not wet and dirty from the sand and salt water. It's the little things that matter! It's one block off the main strip...so close yet you don't hear a thing. We LOVED the little bar next door. We've been to Playa the last 3 summers and can't seem to get enough. The only issue I had during this stay was the noise from the other occupants next door. Security came and put a stop to that....so one sleepless night wasn't too bad. Just the luck of the draw...nothing against the condo owners. One thing I ask is that if you're vacationers who do not want to be around kids...please stay at the adults only resorts. By doing so, you won't be surprised and disappointed when you see small people running around.

Four of us stayed at Luna Encantada Condos Feb/Mar 2009. Beautiful condo and I think the best location in Playa. Right on the beach next to Fusion Hotel and 1/2 a block off 5th Ave.Super clean maintained grounds with 24 hour security. We stayed for 2 weeks and would go back in an instant. There is nothing negative to say about this place. You will not regret staying here!

We just returned from a week at Luna Encantada. The condo (H-3) was beautiful, well-furnished and comfortable but the service was somewhat lacking. We had a leak in our airconditioner in the master bedroom closet and when I reported it to the manager they told me it was condensation. After a day and half and emptying buckets of water from the ceiling, I told them I was just going to let the water run all over the floor. Finally they came and looked at it and removed a couple of ceiling panels to fix it after we left. The maid service was suppose to be Monday, Wed, Friday and they didn't bother to come on Friday at all. However, all that being said it was a beautiful place in a great location. One of the highlights for our family was the hiring of a personal chef to shop, cook and clean for us. Carlos and Tani were fabulous (Epicurean [-]) and it was great to sit on our balcony, listen to the waves and be served a wonderful dinner and then have it cleared and cleaned up for us. I would highly recommend their services. Playa is a wonderful place to spend a week and I would stay there again.
