Just returned from a fabulous 10 night stay at Luna Encantada!! We stayed in the unit B3 the penthouse. This was our 4th annual trip to Playa and the Luna Encantada. Everything about this complex is first class. The service of the staff is top rate and every need is administered to on the spot. Sebastian who is the beach cabana boy is readily available to set up beach loungers and umbrellas as well as grabbing food and drinks from Fusion across the street. It's as simple as waking up in the morning and walking down 3 flights of stairs to a magnificent beach and escaping all the stresses of home life.

We are currently in the process of making Luna Encantada a twice a year destination due to the experiences we've had the last 4 trips there. The location is the best in all of Playa, right in the heart of town and a stone's throw from the best boulevard in the world. There is never a dull moment walking down 5th Avenida in Playa del Carmen. The vibe of the town and the people is unparalleled. I recommend to anyone of any age to experience Luna Encantada and Playa del Carmen. The first time I went there 4 years ago my heart was won over and it gets better every time I go back. It changes the way I think about life in general. This place is a must!!!

Room Tip: All rooms are great, but if you want an experience of a penthouse with extra space for bbqing and enjoying the privacy of a rooftop terrace...book a penthouse room.

Just got back from a wonderful 2 week stay in Playa del Carmen (Christmas & New Year 2012) We stayed in Condo D1 and it was great. You will find it difficult to get a better location anywhere in Playa than this complex. Sitting right on the beach (no roads to cross) and 1 minute walk to 5th Ave.

D1 is on the ground level, so no stairs or lift to worry about. Nothing to obstruct your 180 Deg view of the beach and 5 steps to the pool from the bedroom door.

We were a mixed family group of 5, ranging in age from 22 to 74. The place suited every one of us.

The Condo came complete with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Airconditioning, fans, TV, a small selection of DVDs, board games, some books, all the kitchen equipment you need (complete with a blender to make afternoon cocktails while enjoying the beach).

The maid service was efficient (every 2nd day), the complex security people are polite, friendly and helpful and the property managers checked regularly that everything was in order.

Being our 1st visit, Susan, the lady I dealt with was great helping us arrange the things including helping us out with contact details for private transport to and from the airport.

There is a great system of getting beach chairs & umbrellas in front of the apartments. Atim the guy who organises the beach chairs will even take an order to the restaurant next door and deliver your food and drinks back to you for the price of the food (plus a small tip for him).

We found an excellent travel office on 5th Ave called Solantino. To find it, walk to 5th Ave, turn left and it is 3 or 4 shops along on the left. Run by a guy named Mike. Don't bother arranging any day trips with anyone else. Forget all the little stalls who promise you the best price. Mike is legitimate, honest and will give you the best deals available. I can't recommend him too highly.

So if you are going to stay in Playa and want a place on the beach where all you need to do is draw the curtains to watch the sunrise every morning, a minute's walk from 5th Ave where you will find dozens of restaurants, pubs and 100s of shops and away from the noisy nightclub end of town, look no further.

Room Tip: The Condo's D 1,2 & 3 and C 1, 2 & 3 are at the beach end of the complex and have full 180 Deg view of the beach with the only things obstructing your view are a couple of coconut trees. There is a small restaurant next to the complex called Fusion. Good for meals if you don't feel like walking too far, but be aware, if you have a room on the Nth side (C, B or A) you may get a little "happy noise" (music etc...) later in the evening.

Condos are the right choice for Playa del Carmen. Right on the beach, with easy access to restaurants and shopping. Unlike all the beach clubs surrounding this property, beach loungers are limited to residents and results in a very uncrowded atmosphere. The condos are very nice, with unbelievable views of the water. Sometimes it felt like we were on a cruise ship, because looking out from inside the condo, all one sees is water. Water pressure not good, but that is a minor concern. We've stayed at El Taj as well, and the units are very similar. But LE is less crowded, and no boats on the beach. Don't listen to anyone that complained about fusion next door - the noise is minimal, and it's kind of convenient having a nice bar and restaurant right next door.

Room Tip: We stayed in both D3 and C3. The balaconies overlooking the beach, and the rooftop lounges, are spectacular. But these units are the longest walk to the elevator and the beach. If you want to have easier access to the pool and the beach, stay on the first level. The lack of privacy might be a concern - but no one spends time looking into others' units.

Our family of 5 stayed most happily in H-1Luna Encantada from December 16-22, 2012. The condo itself was beautiful; every morning we opened the patio doors and had the stunning view of the gardens, pool, beach, and Caribbean. We spent many happy hours on Luna's beachfront; beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels were provided. We were very spoiled indeed! Property Manager Alberto was most helpful in arranging our transportation to/from the airport. He also helped us to hire Ivan for 2 days of driving. Ivan was an outstanding guide to a cenote, Tulum, and Akumal Beach. Luna Encantada has an outstanding staff from Alberto and Jose regularly checking in with us, to Christina in housekeeping, to the wonderful security and maintenance staff. This was our 2nd trip to PDC, and we plan to stay again at Luna Encantada.

Great location in Playa Del Carmen. Right on the beach and 1/2 block to Quinta Avenida 5th
Avenue - 24 hour security. I took my wife and three kids (22,18,16) December 19 - 26, 2012 to PDC for a little holiday get away. I have a hard time swallowing the holiday premium pricing for lodging, but we needed the break, and we love Mexico. I researched for several hours over the course of several days to find a relatively good value - and this was definitely a good value. Of the ten trips to Riviera Maya over the past nine years, this ranks as the best value. In previous trips we have stayed in condos in Puerto Aventuras, which was fine when the kids were little. But Playa Del Carmen is such a cool place, and Luna Encantada H-2 is in a terrific location. Joe B., the owner of H-2 was great to work with. I think Joe understands value pricing as he was lower than any of his neighbors - and we greatly appreciate the chance to stay in such a nice unit.
