...that hasn't already been said in hundreds of other reviews of Hotel Julamis? It's charming, comfortable and clean, and Alex is a gem of a host. The amenities, from the organic toiletries to the free tequila to the wonderful gourmet breakfasts, are unparalleled. Add my voice to the chorus of other Trip Advisors who say this is the BEST hotel in Merida!

We went to Merida as part of our road trip through Yucatan and stayed at the Hotel Julamis for only two nights. Alex, the Swiss owner of that place, made this the best stay of our entire trip. He's always there, always helpful with recommendations of what to see, where to go for dinner and even left us his number to call him any time should we encounter some problem on our trip. Each night he's offering free tequilas on the roof top terrace - a great chance to share experiences with the other guests. We met great people and always stayed longer up there than initially planned, thus being quite late for dinner every night.
The highlight each day though was the gourmet breakfast: Alex prepared it individually each morning and served three courses you won't find anywhere else for breakfast.
The hotel is in walking distance to all the sights, bars and restaurants of lovely Merida. Our room was nice and comfortable, very clean with a big and bright window overlooking the courtyard.
If we return to Merida, we'll surely book again at the Hotel Julamis.

If you desire a quiet, personal and unique boutique hotel in a great Merida location, this is where you should stay. Alex is the chef/owner who embodies the personality and soul of the place. Accommodations are comfortable, affordable, great atmosphere and a gourmet breakfast that changes daily cooked by him.
Each evening Alex offers free drinks on the rooftop which affords travelers an opportunity to share experiences with others in addition to a great sunset. We had the best time talking to fellow travelers up there. In fact, that was one of the highlights of our trip.
Alex makes himself available for his clientele and a traveler couldn’t ask for more. If we return to Merida we’ll book here.

Room Tip: The Colonial Room had a bright, large sitting room with a kitchenette, in addition to a large bedroo...

We found this lovely little hotel on tripadvisor and were not disappointed. Alex is a wonderful and most welcoming host and goes out of his way to look after his guests (thanks again for sending us the camera charger we forgot!). On arrival he gave us a map of the town with contact numbers and addresses for everything one might need, from doctor to ATM, and said to call him if we got a problem - we felt very much looked after. His home made breakfasts are amazing - so us Germans had to come to Mexico to enjoy the best apple strudel ever! And don't forget tequila hour on the beautiful roof top terrace. We had such a good time with Alex and the great people we met there, that one night we even forgot we were planning to go out for dinner! The hotel is also just a few blocks away from the town center which makes it easy to walk everywhere. Should we ever come back to Merida, this will be our place to stay - especially once Alex has started providing dinner as well ;-)

We went to Merida with friends and had just a wonderful time. We would stay here again. The new owner was just a joy to meet and talk with. Alex has set up restaurants in Cancun and other parts of Mexico. He is also a great chef and served great breakfasts.
We would stay there again.

Hotel Julamis is clean, rooms are comfortable and the gourmet breakfasts are inventive and quite good. The new owner and host Chef Alex always has his guests' interest in mind. Chef Alex always made us feel as it we were part of a family. He catered to the whims of my 84 year old mother. Chef Alex always made sure she was comfortable and happy.
It was lovely having breakfast every morning in the patio of the hotel under the beautiful trees with the bird chirping. The back yard of the B&B is beautiful with a variety of fruit trees.

This small boutique like hotel was wonderful, starting with its owners who are two of the most delightful and helpful guys ever! Great location, walking distance from everything but quiet and delightful, the terrace to chill out in the afternoon after walking all day is fabulous! Great views of the city, it is the perfect place to enjoy the sunset savouring a beer or drink that the owners leave for you in your minibar! Adorable! Nice and cozy, we would definitely return!
