“Don't Bother !”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2014

In search of a nice place to eat on a Sunday evening, we were strolling on Paseo Montejo ( a street with many restaurants). It was our misfortune to choose this place. Dining alfresco would have been nice as it was a beautiful evening and the setting looked inviting.

To our amazment their food selection was very limited. The wine selection was way over priced and none of the wines were chilled. Someone needs to tell the that white wines are suppose to be chilled. We ordered an app and a margarite pizza along with a bottle of chardonnay. The wine was brought to the table and immediately opened and poured for a tasting. We told the waiter to let it sit and chill for a while. As we were not shown the bottle when it arrived I asked my friend to check and see if it was the chardonnay we had ordered. It was not. It was infact a much more expensive bottle. We brought this to the waiters attention and again pointed to the wine we had ordered. They brought the less expensive wine ( also very warm).

Food: Our appetizer was nothing to write home about. Over toasted bread, large chunchs of tomato and raw garlic sitting in olive oil. The pizza looked less than appetizing ( no slices of tomatoes, lots of cheese and only a few small basil leaves scattered here and there).

The check came and they had tried to charged us for the more expensive wine which we sent back. We were able to get the check corrected. However, it really put the final damper on the entire evening.
Would we go back????
Not even if you were paying for it !!!

“Why did we go here?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2014

We ended up at this restaurant after trying to go to our favorite italian restaurant on Paseo Montejo, it was closed since it was sunday night. We had not tried this restaurant since it has just opened in december. We wanted to start with a salad of some sort, we were informed they did not have one of any kind, not sure if this is all the time or just that night, but none were listed on the menu. The pastas did not get our attention so we ordered a margarite pizza and an order of crustades. Three pieces of tough bread, slightly grilled, raw slices of garlic and some rather tasty tomato chunks and a lot of olive oil, we didnt eat to much of this. The pizza was all cheese and tough dough, tomato sauce, not fresh tomatoes and about 8 or 9 basil leaves! Now the wine service, one they have the most highly priced wines we have seen in Merida, and we eat out a lot! We ordered a white wine, even pointed it out on the menu to the server. The wine arrived, was not shown to us, and opened and poured. It had never been chilled and it was not the wine we ordered, it was over twice the price! When we could see the bottle after the waiter left, we noticed the problem, alerted our waiter and waited for the right wine. It arrived, was shown to us, opened and poured, still not chilled! I do not believe they chill any of their white wines. We ate most of the pizza since we were hungry, regretting that we had eaten here. The bill arrived with the expensive wine on the ticket, was this a mistake? We will assume so, but it makes you wonder. We will not be back and do not reccomend this establishment to anyone at this time.

“Better to go hungry than eat here!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2014

We where just walking around Paseo Montejo on a Sunday night looking for a place to eat. Since our first 3 options were closed we ended up trying this place. The food was in a word HORRIBLE. A terrible disappointment considering it was also our last night in merida. two of us had the seafood pasta (the fresh pasta you have an option to get for extra $$) The seafood was like eating rubber and some of the mussles where still stuck shut (their bad) and the ones that were open smelled a bit off. Two of us had the 4 cheese pasta also fresh and it pretty much just tasted like kraft dinner. The kids shared a pizza and it was the best thing to come to the table but still pretty bad. It ended up being one of the most expensive meals we had while in Merida and was by far the worst meal we had. We all felt sick the next day after eating here and we were totally fine for the entire 3 weeks before in Mexico. If you find yourself tempted to go to this place don't! See soe of our other Merida reviews for better options
