We loved everything about this little hidden gem. David is so welcoming and a font of knowledge about Merida, with excellent recommendations on sights and restaurants. The B&B itself is beautiful, we didn't want to leave. Being separate from the main house there is plenty of privacy and the breakfasts were the best we had in Mexico, fruit and yoghurt, cinnamon doughnuts and a traditional Mexican hot breakfast every day. We were so well fed we never needed lunch!

The main squares of Merida is only a short walk away and very easy to navigate yet when you walk into the B&B it feels miles away - it's so peaceful!

We are so glad we chose to stay here and definitely recommend it to anyone looking to spend some time in Merida.

What a special home for travelers. Plenty of good food and wonderful coffee served daily at breakfast, with care and tasteful attention to your personal preferences. The gentile owner is very helpful with the info you need to navigate thru Merida. Above all, I always felt safe, since I'm a solo female traveler. Very short walking distance to center, American library, and transportation if you need it but I never used a taxi while in Merida. I would recommend Los Arcos B&B very highly.

This was my third trip to Los Arcos Bed and Breakfast and David has done much to improve the property. There is now an outdoor porch / eating area (that will be screened in soon, he tells me) that was lovely for reading and drinking coffee on a rainy afternoon. He's also doing other improvements on the suite (upstairs) and the general patio has been cleared and expanded with more seating, as well.

As usual, Lucas and David were warm and welcoming. My friends and I had a great, relaxing long-weekend get-away for Mexican Independence Day, even despite the rain.

David's B&B was definitely one of the highlights of our recent trip to the Yucatan. David is a gentleman who cares enormously for the happiness and safety of his guests: gay, straight or families. The main part of his house is decorated with an impressive collection of antiques and curios from all around Mexico. The guest rooms are located at the bottom of the beautiful garden which has a well maintained pool surrounded by mature plants, Maya sculpture and an aviary of tropical birds. The guest rooms themselves are private, clean and spacious. David's attention to detail is unparalleled - umbrellas, bug spray, torch and complimentary beer were all provided without even having to ask. David is helped by the wonderful Lucas who prepares an exceptional breakfast every morning - endless coffee, cake, fruit and yogurt and eggs prepared in a different way each day (often inspired by Lucas' Italian/Argentinian background). The B&B is in a great location on a beautiful street of early 29th century houses, each painted in a different pastel shade, and makes for a great retreat from the busy streets of central Merida. Thanks David.

My husband and I spent four nights at Los Arcos and it was absolutely the highlight of our trip to the Yucatan. Driving through the residential streets of Merida's historic center--which is beautiful in its own right--you would have no idea that a place as amazing as Los Arcos is behind those walls. David, Los Arcos' owner for the past 11 years, has impeccably decorated the interior of the home with floor-to-ceiling artwork, sculptures, paintings, collectibles, etc. which fills the place with a feeling of authenticity--it is absolutely gorgeous. No detail has been overlooked. During our stay at Los Arcos we were the only guests and had breakfast each morning on the outdoor patio--pastries, fruit, yogurt, granola, and anything from huevos rancheros to tamales to omelettes were served daily. Everything was delicious. My husband is a vegetarian and David went out of his way to ensure that his offerings were no less exceptional, something that other hosts in the past haven't bothered to do. We were stuffed (and happy) after breakfast every morning! As other reviewers have mentioned, our guest room was comfortable and beautifully constructed with super-high ceilings, skylights, Mexican tiles in the bathroom and ice-cold air conditioning. The room was stocked with all the necessities (even a hairdryer) and we were offered as much bottled water as we could drink. David made GREAT recommendations for dinner each night and the meals we had at all four restaurants we tried were some of the best we've ever had on vacation. We just can't recommend this place enough--David was such a gracious host and helped us with everything we needed during our stay, from tour suggestions to medicine for an upset stomach! We loved Merida as a travel destination and wish we could've stayed longer--there is so much to do in the city and the area and we would go back just to have an excuse to stay at Los Arcos again. Two words: STAY HERE. You won't regret it. Thanks David for making our trip so wonderful!
