My husband and I spent four nights at Los Arcos and it was absolutely the highlight of our trip to the Yucatan. Driving through the residential streets of Merida's historic center--which is beautiful in its own right--you would have no idea that a place as amazing as Los Arcos is behind those walls. David, Los Arcos' owner for the past 11 years, has impeccably decorated the interior of the home with floor-to-ceiling artwork, sculptures, paintings, collectibles, etc. which fills the place with a feeling of authenticity--it is absolutely gorgeous. No detail has been overlooked. During our stay at Los Arcos we were the only guests and had breakfast each morning on the outdoor patio--pastries, fruit, yogurt, granola, and anything from huevos rancheros to tamales to omelettes were served daily. Everything was delicious. My husband is a vegetarian and David went out of his way to ensure that his offerings were no less exceptional, something that other hosts in the past haven't bothered to do. We were stuffed (and happy) after breakfast every morning! As other reviewers have mentioned, our guest room was comfortable and beautifully constructed with super-high ceilings, skylights, Mexican tiles in the bathroom and ice-cold air conditioning. The room was stocked with all the necessities (even a hairdryer) and we were offered as much bottled water as we could drink. David made GREAT recommendations for dinner each night and the meals we had at all four restaurants we tried were some of the best we've ever had on vacation. We just can't recommend this place enough--David was such a gracious host and helped us with everything we needed during our stay, from tour suggestions to medicine for an upset stomach! We loved Merida as a travel destination and wish we could've stayed longer--there is so much to do in the city and the area and we would go back just to have an excuse to stay at Los Arcos again. Two words: STAY HERE. You won't regret it. Thanks David for making our trip so wonderful!

My wife and I recently spent 5 nights at Los Arcos and it was one of the highlights of our trip. We stayed in the smaller of the 2 rooms and found it spacious, comfortable and with all of the small details (water and towels in the room etc.) taken care of. Breakfasts were delicious, with fresh fruit and sweet items, coffee and a different hot dish served every morning. We loved relaxing in the garden, watching the birds or swimming in the pool and the place became a home from home. Best of all was the service provided by David and Lucas - always attentive but never overbearing, helpful in every way and always keen to ensure you have everything you need. David was a friendly, interesting host who went out of his way to make you feel at home and we really enjoyed his and Lucas's company. Couldn't fault it as a place to stay - would strongly recommend it to anyone.

Over the years I've been in many B&B's in Europe and Mexico. Los Arcos has to be one of the very best. David, the owner, is the reason. He goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable and welcome. His taste in decorating is artistic, probably due to the fact he is a natural artist. The unexpected 100 degree temps. could have made our trip miserable, but the comforts of the B&B and his helpfulness made it more than tolerable. It's an oasis close to the historical center of town, but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. The pool and surrounding gardens make you feel like you're on an exotic island. Enjoyed the tasty breakfasts by the poolside.

My husband and I just spent five days here! What a wonderful time we had relaxing by the pool. We started each day having breakfast by the pool which included sweet rolls/donuts, an enormous bowl of fresh fruit, granola, yogurt, unusual/ethnic entre with eggs and coffee/tea/ Yummy!! Maybe wandered into the plaza area, came back and spent the afternoon by the pool reading and swimming and had wine in the evenings. It was hard to leave the garden to have dinner. Everything was enchanting. We had the room with two beds which was ample size and beautifully decorated with items David had collected over the years. This is definitely not the typical B&B in which we have stayed. Came back with a few ideas on how to add more personal touches to our home. David was the continual gracious host...full of information and even drove us to the restaurants. Lucas, his helper, was also very friendly and speaks several languages. One of the most wonderful things about our time here was that we lucked out and were the only guests. Another guest was schedule but cancelled at the last minute due to illness. Definitely a place to come back to again and again. The inside of David's house is unbelievable! You'll want to spend time seeing everything and taking a million photos. David has even painted some of the art work. If you miss staying here, it is definitely your loss. It's a one in a million place! Outstanding value!!!!!

After staying at David's delightful bed&breakfast with my husband several times over the past years, I think it is finally time to write a review, although not wanting to repeat what everyone has already written will be almost impossible.
He is indeed very generous and will go out of his way to provide you with anything within his power, including pastries and snacks for the ungodly early flight out of Merida on United.
He is witty and dare I say charming and lives with the most adorable babies(dogs and cats) you will meet in a long time. He must be so tired of hearing the same old joke about Isabella being kidnapped, although every one of us means it. His rooms are always clean and the towels are a-plenty. He is never too busy to chat or help with advice or dinner suggestions. His assistant is a sweet and handsome man from Argentina, who is married to a local girl and has made Yucatan his new home. And his cooking's not too shabby either! The pool is deliciously refreshing in the summer months, which makes it hard to leave, but the true beauty of this place is if you don't feel like leaving for the day, you don't have to, because you are always welcome in David's little slice of paradise.
And that is what I think of David and Los Arcos!
