“Lovely, we had the place virtually to ourselves”

The ruins are very interesting, although it would have been nice to see more placards explaining the area, or to have received a brochure. We did bring our guidebook.

“Seemed like a small Chichén Itzá ♥”
Reviewed July 11, 2012

We visited Mayapán during our honeymoon, and we liked that it was like a small Chichén. We got to see the whole place without having to walk miles :) We were also the only ones there, so we were able to take pics without having to wait for people to "get out of the way" like at othet archeological zones ;) Will definitely be back for our anniversary!

“The last gasp of pre-Columbian Maya power”
Reviewed May 27, 2012

Mayapan flourished 1250-1450 as the successor to Chichen Itza. If you see it after CI, you will appreciate the parallels: Castillo, Caracol, cenote, but all thrown up in a hurry and on a smaller scale.

“Quiet Wonder”
Reviewed May 25, 2012

Not to be missed!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My husband and I were the ONLY people there. I can't quite describe the feeling I had but the only way to describe it was that I NEVER felt alone. The feeling of the past was almost beautifully haunting. Wherever we wandered at the site we were always respectful of their culture (as everyone should be). You can find recent excavations and beautiful frescos. Be sure you bring water with you.

“Medium-small site”

The fun in here is that you may climb to any pyramid. There was not much people although it was a high period.
