We planned a trip to the Yucatan with our daughter during her spring break. We contacted all the hotels we planned to stay personally, by phone, in Spanish. We had read interesting reviews about Casa Isidora. Three days before our arrival we called again to confirm that the reservation was in place and advised Antonio that we would be arriving in Merida after 10 pm. He assured us that they would wait until midnight for our arrival. Upon arrival in Puerto Progreso and the hotel, everything was dark. We rang insistently and the lonely guest, a mexican national came to talk to us through a broken glass pannel in the door which was locked. Nobody else was available. Well, imagine flying from Ohio which we left at 7:30 am, to arrive to nothing at 10:45 pm. We of course were not able to stay in this place, and found another hotel where we spent two days.
We have traveled through the world for decades and never found a situation like this. Be forewarned.
