“Great Place to hang out”
Reviewed December 9, 2011

This is a gem of a place in a big city. I often wonder why anyone would stay in a hotel room when you have this option! Great staff and just a good place to chill.

This is a great hostel and the staff are really welcoming.

My husband and I have been traveling for a year and this is one of the better hostels we have stayed at.

The building is bright and colourful, though the rooms are a little rustic but clean and really great value for the price you pay. We stayed in a private room with shared bath and the washrooms and showers we are always really clean, as was the kitchen.

The pool is really great and a reason in itself to stay here. We booked 2 days and stayed 4, lounging around the pool side in the hammocks.

There is live music a couple of times a week and free salsa lessons, which are REALLY fun. Nestor, the Salsa teacher and his wife are really great!

The hostel has done a really great job to create atmosphere and is a fantastic place to stay. I recommend it.

For US$15/night I had a private room with two fans, full size bed, huge locker to store all my things and access to pool, free breakfast, always clean kitchen, hot bathrooms and really helpful staff. I was very impressed! I highly recommend.

Room Tip: private rooms are great, the dorm room for women is also nice with a girls-only bathroom with lots o...

What's to say, everything is average and you get what you pay for. During our 1 night stay we felt safe, the room was clean but heavily worn down, and the breakfast was ok (but do not touch the coffee if you have any standards whatsoever). I saw that some people here complain about the rules, but I thought it makes a lot of sense to ask people to be very quiet when the walls are made of mosquito screens. This was our cheapest stay in Mexiko.

In detail:

Good:
- Seems well organized
- You meet other travellers
- It's cheap

Bad:
- Everything seems worn down
- Feels like a place you can stay for one night, does not feel comfy in any way
- No privacy in a private due to walls of mosquito net (veiled with a wooden board that only covers up so much)

Nice to know:
- As everywhere in Mexiko, beds are too short for people from Europe and, I'm guessing, the US-Canada-Australia travelers
- Private room is a four bed dorm with no other people in it

100% for this hostal.. its by far the best i have seen.
The girls dorm is really so spacious, you nearly have the feeling of a private room, bathrooms and showers inside....got cleaned every day... every bed has its own ceiling fan plus another one.
Pool what to say, just amazing. Staff was really frinedly and very helpful.

A lot of people complain about the heat and the noise ....therefore
2 Advices....

- either dont go to mexico in summertime, or spent 10 bucks more and get yourself an airconditionroom.
- noise.. who sleeps in a hostal with a lot of people shoulod expect that there might be a bit noise sometimes.. but good that some people invented earplugs....

i would definately recommend this hostal

I can't say how much we enjoyed being in this hostel. The atmosphere is really nice. The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was filling and a nice extra, the room was clean and the fans kept us cool. The pool area is just beautiful, it is so nice to be able to cool off and the hammocks over the pool were just a lovely extra touch!
