May is the hot month in Merida, but you can cool off in the pool at Angeles de Merida...and feel as if you own the place! Absolutely gorgeous, charming, and friendly...it made my stay in Merida lovely!
A boutique experience...colorful towels, robes and soaps in the charmingly decorated bathroom, and a large, well-appointed bedroom (I stayed in Castillo) with fine linens...and Dawn is a lovely hostess.
I stayed longer than I intended, and wish that I could have extended my stay even longer! Perfect place!

Spent 4 days at Angeles de Merida and loved the place. The rooms are spacious, extremely clean, good beds and linens and located through the courtyard so private. The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. Our hostess was a pleasure to talk with, very helpful with directions and restaurant suggestions and being from the US, provided a perspective we were looking for. If you are looking for a B&B in Merida, you should definitely consider this one.

We just returned from a memorable trip to Merida, and especially loved our stay at Angeles de Merida. Dawn, the American owner, was the perfect hostess, and the house is absolutely gorgeous! Our room was more than comfortable (very nice bed!), and opened onto a beautiful outdoor courtyard. The guest section of the large historic mansion is completely seperate from the family, and the privacy is nice. We were served a wonderful breakfast, and Dawn was very helpful with information about the area and what to do and see. If your travels take you to Merida, we highly recommend the Angeles de Merida!

A very well run boutique hotel in a gorgeous 19th century grand house of a Spanish count, super clean with nice amenities and a extremely friendly staff. The 4 guest rooms are tastefully furnished, spacious and have beautifully tiled bathrooms with wonderful scented soaps and lotions. In the patio guests find a small pool that can be very refreshing on a hot day but is a rather chilly experience during the winter months because the water is not heated. Only recommended for brave souls. The breakfast is typical Mexican with some American influence – local fruits and egg dishes, a choice of cereals and some toast. Dinners can be arranged on site and are well prepared by the kitchen staff. Highly recommended are the different spa services that offer true relaxation in this most pleasing place!

The Angeles de Merida is an outstanding bed and breakfast. The rooms are spacious, clean, quiet and have lots of light. Four notes we made while there:
First, the hospitality by John is just excellent.
Second the food by Lucrecia was excellent. She not only prepared all of the breakfasts, but also two dinners. One was a special birthday dinner and she prepared gourmet Mexican food.
Third, the happy hour (free wine and beer) made for some great conversations with other guests.
Fourth, Angeles is located in the historic part of Merida. We walked to most sites that we saw.

The "Angeles de Merida" B&B is one of the most delightful places we have stayed (and we have traveled a lot). Its a beautifully restored 19th century house on a quiet backstreet in the Yucatan city of Merida. The exterior on the slightly depalidated street gives no indication of the lovely interior, decortated tastefully in Mexican art and period furniture. The "outdoor" areas include a spacious dining/mixing area off the kitchen, a small swimming pool to cool off in, and a separate garden area for quiet reading or chatting. There are 4 bedrooms with private bath and an excellent breakfast is included (as are some snacks and a wonderful cocktail hour when owners and guests can get together to talk under the cooling fans). What we liked most was the friendly and laid back atmosphere; it felt a lot like staying at a friend's house. The American owners John and Jose could not have been nicer and gave us all sorts of useful help and advice about trips, attractions, restaurants etc. - and they even invited their guests to meet them and their friends for margaritas on Sunday at their favorite local bar. John - who does most of the hands-on running of the "Angeles" - is assisted by the wonderful Lucretia and her daughter Cristina who do everything they can to make people feel welcome. Lucretia cooks dinner if you'd like it (we chose not to take this option as we wanted to sample the local restaurants but next time we will certainly try her dinners!). But please, do not come to the "Angeles" if you plan to hide in your room - get a hotel if you want to avoid other people. What makes the "Angeles" so great is the combination of excellence in the accomodation, the food, and the interaction with the owners, the other guests, and the local workers. At US $100/night its also very good value. Thanks to everyone at the "Angeles" for such a great stay. We'll be back! Jim & Cecilia
