What an incredible surprise on our first visit to the colonial city of Merida. The restaurant alone is worth the visit. We had the "catch of the day" - cobia snapper - last night. And, we visited the night before, sharing "sopa de lima", but with ribeye (an interesting twist!) and some epicurean tacos of ribeye, tuna and pork belly. A delicious assortment of choices. And, the wine list is a delightful surprise including some California and French choices along with a few very nice Baja California wines. We'll be back!

After several nights eating in Merida (October 2013), my husband and I wanted to find something unique and special to celebrate our anniversary. We decided to walk around to see what we could find. We stumbled upon this hidden gem. I am so glad that we did. The food, service, atmosphere etc were excellent. Being here left such an impression, that we returned two more times on our stay. It is slightly more pricey than you would expect to pay in Mexico, but you are also getting more than street tacos (not that I mind those). The quality of the food here is excellent, as well as the inventiveness that goes into the creation of the dish. When we travel, not only do we want to have a good experience, but we also enjoy talking to the people that live in the city we are in. Education is key when traveling. The employees (as well as owner) were all extremely nice, and such a pleasure talking to. When the staff found out that it was our 1st anniversary, they even helped us celebrate by lighting candles as well as a complimentary dessert (which was beyond delicious). If you are looking for a fantastic restaurant, great environment, terrific service…please stop in here. We will be back in October, and will be visiting Apoala again!

Hubby and I had appetizers one day, the squahs blossoms, and cerviche. Both were excellent. We went back with freinds for dinner and again, excellent. We all said we had never had such great service at any restaurant. Our 4 entrees were brought out by 4 waiters and placed in front of us at the same time!
Hubby and I went back again for more of the fabulous appetizers, this time adding the shrimp in phyllo dough.
We feel we made some new freinds with the watiers, Fernando, Joaquin, and Guillermo, who were all delightful.
We can't wait to go back.

We just had a light meal under the arcades. They were very nice allthough we took only three entrances and had 2 kids with us. The food was very elaborated and tasty, very original and among the best we had in Mexico. And the decoration Inside is worth looking at. We enjoyed it a lot and the kids could play on the place while we had a drink at the end.
