Entering from the street we were astonished at the size, design, decoration and visual aesthetics. It is much larger and grander than pictures can convey. Four rooms line one side of the courtyard with tables and chairs outside by each door- one of several beautiful settings for the delicious coffee served. There is then a beautiful dining room with wonderful art and furnishings. After that one moves on to the patio and bar where breakfast is served at 9:00. Michael is a seasoned gourmet chef. Each breakfast was sumptuous in taste and presentation. There is nothing amiss in all of this. And there you look at the patio, pool and on to the back courtyard. It is much more than we hoped for. At dusk there is creative and sensitive lighting everywhere, emotive music that blends with the bubbling water surrounding the courtyard, and the fountain that flows into the pool. It is a pleasure to just sit and look at the beauty. We did that and we swam, had wonderful massages and the best guided meditation ever. Michael and Robert are gracious, accommodating and know how to provide. The best and most aesthetic experience we've had at a hotel, b and b or spa.

Room Tip: The rooms we saw were equally elegant and spacious. Although the one room off of the back courtyard...

We were so lucky to stay at Villa Verde during our visit to Merida. We had the good fortune of having friends who knew about it and met us there. You couldn't find a more lovely, quiet and welcoming hotel. The location is perfect, right in the center of the old district, close to great restaurants, shopping, entertainment and cultural sites. Robert and Michael are experts in making you feel at home with delicious, gourmet breakfast and coffee in the morning and a complimentary drinks at 6:00 PM creating a wonderful opportunity to meet other guests who visit from all over the world. The hotel decor is a mix of historical stonework, incredible patterned tile floors, contemporary furnishings and original artworks. It would be very easy to just stay there and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and after a day of walking through the markets, and plazas there was nothing better than seeing the tall wooden front doors of the Villa opening to beckon us in. The sparkling pool is refreshing and the rooms are very clean, with contemporary design and artist elegance. Sleep is easy in their quiet, private rooms and there are so many places to rest and relax and take in the landscape of palms, succulents, and flowing water. Massage, Yoga, and Meditation, are all available with easy arrangements as well as tours of Mayan temples, Cenotes and Haciendas. If you are visiting Merida look no further for a place to stay.

Room Tip: All 5 rooms are fantastic. If you want to be more private the suite at the back of the the hotel is...

This was our 2nd trip to Villa Verde in Mérida, Mexico. We're already looking forward to our next stay. Michael & Robert were gracious hosts. They gave us good suggestions for daily excursions, local cuisine, & cultural activities. Our room was spacious, spotless & comfortable, with good WiFi coverage. The villa was a quiet, private oasis, just minutes walk from the city center.

Sometimes during our stay, we decided to simply lounge around the Villa itself - very inviting & relaxing. We could stretch out by the pool, swim. listen, read, & nap.

Breakfasts were fresh & unique.

We highly recommend Villa Verde for an unforgettable, tropical getaway.

Room Tip: Both times, we stayed in room #3, which has two beds ;-)

Villa Verde is a gem in Merida. Robert and Michael are excellent hosts. We felt very much at home in their immaculately restored colonial house. The best meals we had on our two week trip through the Yucatan were the 3 breakfasts we had at Villa Verde. Michael's culinary skills are amazing. The hammocks by the pool were a great way to relax after a busy day in Merida, and this B&B is full of cozy nooks for reading and enjoying a glass of wine. Villa Verde has the elegance of a nice hotel with the friendliness of a B&B. Staying here was one of the highlights of our trip. Thank you, Robert and Michael!

jThis is a beautiful B & B and of great value, service & location for walking. Once you open the curb side front door you find yourself in a tropical garden. Newly opened in Feb. 2013. Great pool area and yummpy breakfasts & friendly hosts. Soooo comfortable sitting/lounging. Wish I could have stayed longer!
