“magnifico ...”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Although we could not attend the concert as it was already full, we were lucky enough to be privied to a special visit given to us by the security guard. It was during the rehearsal of the orchestra and we watched them for a few minutes from the highest balcony. Very impressive place with its huge chandelier and beaqutiful fresco.

“European Style Theatre, not to be missed”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

The archeticture of Teatro Peon Contreras is not to be missed. Its absolutely stunning. You would never think you were in the middle of a Mexican theatre. It is grand and photo ready! If you have time, definitely go see a show here. The seats are rather small but the admission price is next to nothing compared with other prices in bigger cities. I applaud Mexico for making cultural activities available and affordable.

“Glorious Theatre”
Reviewed March 2, 2013

What a wonderful venue to enjoy the Orquest Sinfonica de Yucatan in. A truly beautiful building that has been restored to it's former glory. Worth a visit just to see. Even better, go to enjoy a first class performance at a very reasonable cost.

“A lovely place to hear a symphony”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

This place is worth a visit at anytime. During the day the guard will escort you through the building for a few pesos. A beautiful old opera house. He even took us up onto the roof to overlook the city. Do tip him.

This is something you must design your trip around. Great performance, gracious evening, like my first trip to the old Paris opera!
