We have been dining at Il Caffe for several years now, usually after before a Friday night performance by the incredible Yucatan Symphony Orchestra or after a Sunday afternoon performance of said symphony. Il Caffe is neatly tucked around the corner from the Peon Contrearas Theatre in the Paseo, making it a rendezvous point for several of the orchestra performers after a concert. There are several parking lots nearby.
The owners, Marco Antonio (also the chef) and his wife Maria are incredible hosts whom we have come to know very well. The food is decidedly Italian with a variety of pasta dishes (and filet Mignon by advance order). As an appetizer, the smoked salmon is incredible. Our favourite main course is the Pasta Scoglio in a white wine sauce with lots of fresh seafood. Our most recent trip there was for my birthday and they served 35 of us in a very efficient manner (we had pre-ordered to enable them to be even more efficient than they usually are).
For starters this day we had a choice of two salads, the ensalada verte with smoked salmon and capers or ensalada caprese with fresh tomatoes and mozzarella with a basil and olive oil dressing. There were four pasta choices. Of course we chose Scoglio, but many of our friends chose the Pasta Genovese which came with a touch of curry and whole shrimp! They loved it! Others loved the fresh lasagna....
Everything was incredible. They have a complete bar and limited outdoor seating under canopies for the smokers.
Marco and Maria are very amenable to groups if you plan ahead. Normally before and after Symphony there can be standing room only. Reservations are recommended.
All of the staff are very pleasant and attentive!
