Very friendly and very helpful hotel owner and reception staff with many excellent suggestions.

This is as others have stated an oasis of calm right in the centre of Merida. Lovely pool for those essential afternoon swims to escape the heat of Merida. Easy walk to the historic centre of the city. Very nice ‘help yourself’ spirits / drinks tray in reception.

Rooms very good and well equipped, all for a reasonable price.

Cost extra parking in a manned garage almost opposite the hotel. Highly recommend the small café opposite for breakfast (as recommended by the hotel staff).

Note that there is no restaurant or breakfast at all here, but the café opposite was excellent for breakfast and there a loads of restaurants nearby for lunch or dinner.

This is an incredible hotel and an excellent value. Room prices were very reasonable. A/C worked extremely well.

I was the leader of a group of 12 birders/butterfly watchers. We spent three nights at the Luz En Yucatan and can't recommend it too highly. My wife and I took a penthouse suite and it was very roomy with our own private rooftop patio. Our room came equipped with a small kitchen and refrigerator. Inside: two ice-cold beers to welcome our arrival (and much appreciated!). The legendary drink cart was located on the main floor. The décor is amazing.

The rooms were very clean. Parking is best done in the secured lot across the street from the hotel entrance, although the space can be tight (the parking attendants will help you). There is plenty of dining nearby.

I chose this hotel for the group because of the reviews. I am now happy to post my own. Thank you, Tom and staff, for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Use the parking lot on the opposite side of the street from the hotel entrance. Note: there are two...

This is the best hotel we have stayed during our three weeks in Mexico. They gave us an upgrade for our honeymoon to one of the big kingsize-bedrooms with rooftopterras and open kitchen. Wow! We were supposed to stay only one night, but had to take a bus the day later. No problem for Luz en Yucatan, we could stay another night. Very personal, kind, professional and considerate staff, they really walk the extra mile for you. Tequilla and water for free, great location in the old part of Merida. Beautiful building and great rooms. With the checkin you receive an overview of their recommendations to eat, drink, shop, what to see etcetera. Luz en Yucatan is a hotel worth visiting Merida for!

Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful, but one with your own terras is worth the extra money!

We stayed for 5 days during a recent house-hunting trip to Merida, and love Luz en Yucatan. The rooms are spacious, quiet and have very comfortable beds. The shower pressure is good, even on the top floor. The decor is lovely and colorful. The pool is terrific for cooling off. We were given a complementary upgrade to a larger room, with a private outdoor kitchen and patio, but we peaked in a number of the other rooms and all looked very nice. There is no restaurant, but there are a large number of good options within one block -- we recommend the Club restaurant right across the street for breakfast and Chaya Maya and Apoala for lunch/dinner. Free wifi. The staff and the owner, Tom, could not be more friendly or helpful. The location is simply perfect....right across the street from Santa Lucia square and 3 blocks from the Zocalo. And the free beers and drinks are a nice way to end the day. And the value -- incredible! Try it, you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: When we return, we will probably ask for one of the poolside casita rooms. Very quiet (although we...

We stayed here with family last week and the hotel was perfect and value for money.the rooms are huge and have all amenities. The 2 complimentary beers are perfect for enjoying in the pool after a long day of sightseeing. Loved sharing a drink with other travellers at the end of each day. The restaurant across the road is great for breakfast also. Cannot recommend highly enough

This is such a cool place. Not in on the Zocalo but on a smaller, cosier square so that is a great plus. The place itself is gorgeous, the rooms spacious and clean and, luckily, with an AC.
Nice guy at the reception, free booze in the lobby and a nice pool. I was sad not to spend a bit more time there. Would certainly go there again!

Had a fantastic stay at Luz. It is located very centrally so it is easy to navigate your way around Merida. The city tour bus goes from across the main road and the big squares are a short walk (less than 10mins) away. The staff and owners were super friendly and incredibly helpful. I was travelling alone and their advice and care made the experience very comfortable and relaxed. The free wifi was also incredibly useful. The decor and facilities are beautifully done - feels like a small boutique hotel without the extravagant cost. Would highly recommend to those travelling on their own or to couples. This peaceful little haven is great for both.
