Because it's just that good. Read all the other reviews. We stayed one week, first in a 2nd floor one bedroom apartment with spacious living room; then in a studio apartment. Both had excellent kitchens and really high quality cookware. With 5% discount for one week, first was $75 and second (?La Habana) was $65.
Lupita was there to receive us, better English than my Spanish, and very helpful. Agostin was also helpful with information.
Some small things we really appreciated:
5 gallon jug of water in room - none of those tiny bottles
Screens on all windows
Excellent handout listing restaurants, craft shops, free afternoon & evening concerts
Covered waste baskets in bathrooms
Clear and explicit typed directions when we were driving to Progresso one day and to Uxmal another.
And, yes, the free bar.
Highly recommend - great web site.

Room Tip: Reserve one of the rooms with a kitchen - then buy food at Galvez Market - nice to have breakfast in room. And the occasional quesadilla in the evening after a big comida corrida.

Amazing -- you walk off the hot streets of Merida and inside you find a quite oasis with beautiful courtyard and nice pool. Room was good, people very friendly !

Luz En Yucantan is a really lovely place to stay. From the street you would hardly know but inside is a gorgeous oasis. The decor is sumptuous, there is a lovely pool and our room was really spacious.

The host, Tom, is an ex pat American and is incredibly friendly and helpful. We stayed over the New Yearbperiod and because the shops and restaurants were closed on New Year's Day Tom organised for a whole bunch of food for all of the guests so we didn't starve. It was a really nice touch.

The location is excellent. While Merida wasn't our favourite town, Luz En Yucatan is located within a short walk of the main attractions. There are some great restaurants around, including a really nice place for lunch or breakfast right across the road.

If you want a sweet place to stay with friendly service and a relaxing atmosphere there's no need to look anywhere else.

We like to stay in small cozy hotels. Luz en Yucatan fits that bill.

The entrance doesn't look like much, but inside is a different matter. Probably like old Merida when people's houses were plain on the outside. The lobby is spectacular. A comfortable place to sit and read or drink some coffee.

The staff is very friendly and helpful.

We stayed in two different rooms. This was nice to do in a place where each room has unique character. We first stayed in the Cielo (sky) room. It has a large living room with kitchen and a separate bedroom. This is a great place place to stay for several days so you cook for yourself. The fridge came stocked with a couple of beers (only on the first night).

The second room we had was smaller. It overlooked the pool. It had a coffee pot and water.

Everything is new and well kept up. Large (20L) water bottles are provided so you don't have to be buying water all the time.

Location is fantastic. Next door to Plaza Santa Lucia. There are free concerts every Thursday. Also an ATM next to the convenience store. Certainly walking distance to the central plaza. Also to several museums around town. They are small but well kept up.

I would rate this one of the best places we have stayed in the world. Definitely the best in Mexico.

Room Tip: One of the other guests said the Penthouse overlooking the street was a bit noisy. We didn't hear street noise or the bands from our rooms. The A/C drowns that out a bit.
