“Three Strikes”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

Restaurant was highly recommended by the B&B we stayed at. Either was also recommended by several residents of Merida. My wife, myself and a friend wanted Yucatacan food near Galleria de Merida. We were very disappointed. The food was mediocre and bland. It was food suitable to tourists out to sample Mayan cuisine. I had a stuffed chicken dish with very little stuffing. The sauce was almost tasteless. I had to request hot sauce as there was none served with our meals. Service was ok but our our tablecloth stained. Obviously they used placemats so they wouldn't have to change the tablecloths.
Obviously we all agreed that the food was disappointing and we will not be going back again. Skip this restaurant as there are much better, and cleaner restaurants serving Yucatecan food in Merida.

“The original Almendros restaurant”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

This is the original Almendros restaurant in Merida. The food is great with the original flavors of the region.
Try the fresh water with chaya.

“disappointed after 35 years”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

I ate there in 1978 and it was fabulous. I looked forward eagerly to eating there again. The food was mediocre. The service was terrible and I would not eat there again.

“Good and well priced”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

We had the pleasure of eating both at Los Alemendros and La Chaya Maya. Although better known, La Chaya has nothing on Los Alemendros. The restaurant, although off the beaten path, was easy enough to find from our hotel, where we got our recommendation. It is spacious, quiet, with a menu full of Yucatecan specialties. The food was very good, the service attentive, and reasonable prices. Would definitely go there again. We actually prefered Los Alemendros to La Chaya Maya.

“Excellent and Inexpensive Yucatecan Food”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

Probably some of the best cochinita en pibil of our trip, as well as some very delicious sopa de lima, and great flan. The location is a little odd - with a strange view into an indoor parking lot, but the staff is very friendly, and we felt as if we had stumbled into a truly local spot - no other tourists were around when we visited.
