The rooms are small but clean, although the bathrooms are quite minimal.
The hotel decor preserves many traits of the monastery it used to be (lots of crucifixes, also in the rooms).
Personal is very nice.
There is a small pool, with a few sun beds.

Great place to stay
We stayed there for a couple of nights while visiting Merida. The hotel is small and the staff are welcoming and very friendly. The hotel is quirky and hasn't lost much of its charm which we were pleased about and it hadn't become too modern. Breakfast was good and the restaurant staff were lovely. The hotel is near to the centre of town and is an oasis from the hussle of the outside. The courtyard is beautiful to come into. The only negatives are the aircon in our room was very loud and the bed was very hard. We would definately stay there again if we visit Merida and would recommend it to friends. Thankyou very much for having us.

Taste of old Mexico and Yucatan
We stayed in a junior suite that was one of the original rooms when it was a mansion then turned into a convent. A/C worked well - we were glad since it was very hot outside. The room was comfortable and Mary kept the room nice, clean and orderly. The bed was comfortable and the room was quite large. The architecture of the room made you feel like you were in a time long past. The hotel still felt like it was a concent with some of the art, statues of saints and Friars, and candles lit to light different areas. Although our king size bed was for two, we had a couch that folded out in the room as well. The hotel is located about a 5 minute walk from the town square and I felt safe to walk the street during the day (lots of people all around) and even at night. The food at the restaurant in the hotel was quite good. The waiter, I wish I could remember the older man's name, was very kind and would joke a bit with us. All the staff were quick to help ans always avaliable for info. Most spoke enough English to assist if you dont speak Spanish. If you are lookj.g for a place like the Hilton with modern lines and everything perfect, this isnt the place. If you want an authentic taste of the Yucatan and old world, it's a good choice! It's hard to decide where to stay in a lot of new cities, so I'll tell you this is the place.

A little tired
As everyone says the location is great, easy walking distance to the cathedral and barrio Santa Lucia where there is a good selection of restaurants. Our room was ok but the bathroom was very small, nowhere to put any toiletries. Also after flushing the toilet it ran continually. Breakfast was acceptable but the coffee (cold both mornings) served out of a flask was very poor. Staff were friendly and willing but on a couple of occasions forgetful.

Great location, helpful service
This is a lovely property, just 1 1/2 blocks from the main square and cathedral. Personnel are gracious, friendly and helpful. I had room 31 which was well designed, with good lighting and power outlets on either side of the bed. There is also a iron and ironing board in the closet.

All rooms face an inner courtyard and the pool. There are three floors, no elevator, but bellmen are really good about helping with luggage.

Breakfast is nice and served a la carte, so it takes a little time.

After two nights, I moved to another room as I was having trouble sleeping due to air-conditioning noise. I am a light sleeper.

Room 21 which was much quieter. It is bit of a smaller room, but still very comfortable. I especially liked the lamps by the bed as the lighting was excellent for reading.

There is a small mini-market a few doors away, and if you walk around the block to directly behind the hotel, the excellent Yucatan State-run store is a good places for locally-made souvenirs like baskets, ceramics, fashion jewelry and a small selection of silver pieces. Prices are fixed.

The Mision de Fra Diego is charming, comfortable and well-located. You can’t do better than that.

Excellent place
Close to everything downtown and very friendly, helpful staff. Shower was blissful although the bathroom is too small for a typical bag of cosmetics to spread out. Comfy bed, air conditioning. Valet parking only - no charge.
