We participated in this event as a couple together with four other people. After being pickup up by Edgar at the meeting point, he took us through the central part of Merida to one of the markets of the city. Shopping all the ingredients for our meal - vegetables, meat and many different spices - we got to know about how they historically relate to Merida and how the meal we were going to cook would make for a typical Yucatean one. We also had the chance to eat some snacks on the market that Edgar recommended (and did not disappoint). Afterwards, we took a short bus ride to his Aunt’s place where we started preparing the meal together. Since we had mutiple different dishes on the menu, teamwork was important and so it stayed fun. Throughout the whole time, Edgar, who struck us as a quite intelligent and nice person, pointedly informed us about where the different meals culturally originate and, of course, the important details in cooking them. In the end, the food was delicious and felt very fresh, since we only used ingredients that we bought at the market. It was a lot of fun, professionally yet very warm-heartedly carried out and we definitely recommend it to anyone interested in a cooking course.

Our personable guide and chef, Edgar Zapata, was excellent! He met us promptly at 10 am, was knowledgeable about Mexican and Yucatan history, made fascinating comments about the food he purchased for our meal, and guided our preparation of delicious food. He acquired his unusual knowledge about food preparation from his mother who had a restaurant in the Yucatan after her training in Spain to be a chef.

If you like swimming then it doesn’t get much better than this. Cristal clear water, not cold. The third cenote has a 4 meter jump into deep water. Fantastic.
Our guide was great too. Friendly and knowledgeable.
Well worth the time and $.

Our family of four had a great time on our cenote tour with Merida Urban Adventures. They picked a good "introductory" cenote as our first stop, and the other two cenotes were each different in their own way, so it didn't feel repetitive. The moto-taxi ride between cenotes was a lot of fun, and the one-hour colectivo ride to and from Homun was perfectly fine.

Our guide, Sabina, was very welcoming and upbeat. Over the course of several hours she was 100% focused on our comfort and enjoyment of our tour, which I really appreciated. Even our temporary moto-taxi driver seemed vested in our enjoyment.

Our 12 and 15 year-old daughters declared our cenote tour the highlight of our week in Merida, and we would definitely do it again.
