We did 2 tours with Adventures Mexico and were very happy with their services. They tailored made our tours (we are a family of 4)
We visited Uxmal and a cenote with Adrian. (with lunch at hacienda Ochil).
We visited Chichen Itza, Vallalodid and the drove to cancun with Raoul. (with lunch at el meson del marques)
Both Adiran and Raoul were very professional and friendly, very knowledgeable, nice to the kids (and were able to keep the kids interested), patient (my son was sick on the way to cancun) and very safe drivers.

We recently visited Merida and booked the Cooking Class and Market tour. Luis was extremely accomodating as we needed to reschedule the class due to illness, and he was able to fit us in th date requested - even though it was holiday time. The tour of the market was lead by our fabulous guide George. He was witty, informative, and had an excellent command of English. We learned a lot, experience was second to none! We had lots of fun, and took a city bus to the site of the cooking class once we purchased our ingredients from the market. The class (6 people) was hosted in a lovely home, and involved everyone assisting with preparation of the various traditional dishes. The sopa de lima was to die for, as were the rest of the dishes, and we had a lot of fun visiting with others in our group. George kindly escorted us back to Centro on the bus after the class where we bid our farewells. My husband, who has never taken a cooking class before was somewhat skeptical, but after this experience he is a raving fan! George really was instrumental in making this a fabulous memory for us. The booking went extremely smoothly, as did the location to meet for the tour etc. Without a hitch - something that rarely happens. One last thing we learned...all buses caught from Centro return to Centro so you can take a tour of the city without risk of getting lost!

Adventures Mexico contracted with Turistran Merida for the tour operation, so the review is really for them. Chichen Itza day trip from Merida, as described*, was a good long day. About 35 of us total on the trip, 65/35% Spanish-speaking vs English-speaking, so there were 2 guides on board + the driver. Very friendly, professional staff and they were obviously well-versed in the routine. Picked up at hotel ~9:30, and returned at 7pm - note, that's an hour later than listed, but my experience with these types of tours is that's common... Comfortable, air-conditioned bus for the 1.5hr ride to and back again. On site at CI, you get a very quick overview guided tour for about an hour, and then you have n hour on your own. That timing seemed rushed - people on their own may spend 3hrs at the site- but the two of us did have time to see everything (I think). The guides definitely did seem consistently on guard for timing. Next stop, 40 minutes at the nearby Ik Kil cenote which is neat to see, and an opportunity to dip in a fresh pool after a hot day. The buffet lunch at Hacienda XaRe was last - by the time you do it at 3pm, you're so hungry that you don't mind the letdown of it - it's a massive buffet cafeteria for tons of bus groups all day long, and food not so great, and a bit of a clamorous mess hall. But again, you're so hungry... Overall, a standard day trip run by competent, friendly staff. Sure, CI is a new 'wonder of the world', so worth seeing. (For Mayan buffs, I think Uxmal is better, but smaller).
*Note that on Adventures Mexico website, on this day trip page, it does say (at the time of booking a couple months ago and still today) that "we include...entrance fee..." on the top caption of the title description. That is not correct, and the entrance fee (to CI and to Ik Kil for that matter) is correctly listed as not included details lower on the page, and on the voucher you receive. CI entrance is only ~$12USD, so no big deal, but a slight confusion on what to expect / hope for. (p.s. to Adventures Mexico...would be good to include it). Also, note that CI is very popular and very hot, with limited shade. Sundays, Mexican nationals get in free, so it's even more crowded and hectic - pick a different day if you can, unless you're a Mexican tourist and want t take advantage of the Sunday!

My husband and I visited Mexico for the first time and were very lucky to come across Adventures-mexico.com. We took their 14days tour which we absolutely loved: we hiked, we biked, we shopped in local markets, we cooked local food & enjoyed it afterwards)) We had different activities every day and visited different cities, villages and many historical places and stayed with local people. At the end of the tour we just had few relaxing days on the beach chilling out just before we flew back home!!
All of the people who looked after us were really professional & knowledgeable. We even managed to buy the ingredient (the paste) used for preparing chicken at our cookery class and attempt cooking it at home in London!!
Many thanks Luis, Laura and Jorge for looking after us!!! We had an unforgettable experience in Yucatan!!

Like Tucho restaurant, this cooking course brought us closer to the real Mexico of 2012 as compared to the stereotypical sombreros and trinkets. The trip to the market provided a wealth of knowledge of how and where to shop for meats, produce and fruits. Will help immensely during our 4 month stay here. A bus ride out of Centro to the chef's house and great fun preparing a fairly complex meal. A realistic experience of how people live in Mexico today.
