This hostel is really CHEAP! We paid 160 pesos for a private -big and clean- room. They have a good equiped kitchen to cook and the breakfast is okay. Its well located but in a VERY noisy street. without earplugs you wont be able to sleep anymore from 5h30 in the morning. I would recommend this hostel for peeple who only stay 1 or 2 nights and are on a low budget.

Although Casa Nico is far from an idyllic spot, it's more than OK for the price you pay. It's located right in between the largest bus station and the Plaza Grande. We had a big, fairly clean room with a fan, a decent bed and a lukewarm shower. I do suggest bringing earplugs, because most rooms (including the dorm) are situated on the side of a rather busy street. There's free wifi downstairs. Marina, who runs the place, is really nice and helpful. We paid 240 for our double room, including a simple breakfast (prices might go up in high season though). It's nothing fancy, but it's a good budget option.

This place is good enough if you are staying in Merida for a few days. Pretty cheap and the people are very friendly. I really liked this place. You get breakfast, Internet was great, and location can't really complain. The room was ok but you can't really ask for much when you paying so little. But the friendliness of the staff working there was great!!!!! Thank you so much everyone!!!!! I would definitely stay again at Nico's.

I needed a place to study my Spanish after taking private lessons with a local maestra and was referred to Hostal Casa Nico. Due to the low season, Sept-mid Nov I was given un buen precio. The entire Staff, clean "home", delicious breakfast, great kitchen, all contributed to my wonderful 2.5 months in Merida. Un dia volvere!

I spent one wonderful week in Casa Nico, a new hostel about 3 blocks from the Zocalo, or central square of Merida. I was planning on going somewhere else, but visited the hostel after learning about it at the bus station, and found it peaceful and very comfortable for a very reasonable price. The owners are delightful and extraordinarily helpful, and the staff was very kind with me. Casa Nico has spacious private rooms with bath or dorm rooms for groups of travelers who would like to save some money. Free breakfast is included in the price of the room, and a very cheap laundry service was also available. There is also a small pool, which is really pleasant after a long day in the scorching Merida heat. The communal areas are huge for a hostel, and include a full kitchen you can use, a large courtyard, part of which is covered (where you eat), and a pleasant living room space with internet service (computer on premises and wireless) and a tv. By the time I left, I had met a ton of really interesting people and made some new friends. I had an unforgettable stay.

The location of Casa Nico is especially ideal- the neighborhood is very quiet at night, but the central square of Merida is just three blocks away. The main bus station is only a 10-minute walk from the hostel, which is great for early morning bus departures to see local sites like Chichen Itza. The gorgeous San Antonio neighborhood, with its colonial church and pretty market is just a few blocks northwest.
