Stayed here for 2 nights, booked in advance! I did see that there are 2 price lists on the counter as mentioned in other reviews.

The rooms are ok, not more than that. Aircon is really old and noisy, but it works. Not much towels available and if you would want to use the pool you'll need to use your shower towels and change them at the reception. The pool itself is not a recommendation, its 150cm deep and yet you cannot see the bottom, also its littered with dead insects!

Location is somewhat out of the center, but with the price of a taxi not really an issue!

This is a beauiful hotel, but not luxury at all BUT MY ROOM WAS ONLY $22.50 USD last night, or $315 Mexican Pesos. I had a 2nd floor room, over looking a sparkling pool. Two double beds and the room was very large for this price range. It was spotlessly clean, flat panel TV with 60 or so channels, some or which were English speaking. The beds were comfortable and there were lots of lights.

The only negatives were the shower floor was about 1/2 inch below the level of the rest of the bathroom floor. Some water made it out but not as much as I thought. And they only lock on the door was a cheap push button type. There were two wooden luggage stands and I took one, turned it upside down on one end and it made a perfect way to really lock the door when wedged under the door knob (a version of the old chair under the knob but the two side chairs were too tall.)

I read a review before booking the Dolores Alba about not much water pressure but there was plenty in my room. The staff at the front desk was helpful and courteous in every respect.

This hotel is in an incredible location in the Central Historical District. It is 3 /12 blocks from the big park in the middle of this district. Between the hotel and the park are a Sears and a Chapur (a Mexican dept store chain). Lots of places to eat. There is a even a Starbucks about 5 blocks from both the hotel and the park.

I stay in Merida a lot, living in Mexico, but my regular hotel, on the north side, near malls etc was booked so I took a flyer on the Dolores Alba. Next time I go to Merida, I am definitely going back to this little jewel. I can honestly say it is the best bang for the buck I have found for a hotel in Mexico.

There were enough reasons why, for me, to give Hotel Dolores Alba a deserving 5 Star Rating.

When you look at the front doors in the street you do not expect to find this nice hotel. You enter a large area with lots of tables and a reception. The rooms we had with view of the swimming pool were very nice. All in all we enjoyed our stay. Price / quality is about right so do not expect anything fancy. Buffet breakfast Ok but not spectacular.

This was a great hotel and our kids liked the staff. They spoke English and were really friendly. Our room was clean, the beds were firm yet comfy and the shower was hot. Don't bathe in the morning if you want lots of water pressure. The hotel is located within walking distance to everything. We ate a lot of our meals at their restaurant but we didn't like the vendors who kept trying to sell us smokes while we ate. Fortunately our waiter finally told him to get lost and we ate the rest of our meal in peace. I'd recommend this place and you don't have to have a reservation to get a room.

When you enter the street noisy in the hotel courtyard, you feel that you've been in another world, quiet and pleasant. The room is large with all the comfort. The water pressure in the shower is weak but does the job.The staff is very helpful. Worth the price.

So, we picked out the Dolores Alba as where we would stay for 3 nights in Merida. We did not book in advance, as we had no trouble finding rooms during our time in the Yutacan. I checked their website before arriving.
When we arrived, at the front desk, we asked about availability. At this time I noticed the hotel price list on the front desk (matching the website). As the lady was talking to us, she slyly slid some books over the price list .... and then gave us inflated prices to stay there! I asked her about the prices she had just covered. She said they were internet prices and must be booked 24 hours in advance. I asked why this is NOT stated on the website, and also why, if these are website prices that must be booked 24 hours in advance, are they on display on the front desk?

No answers, but continued to quote an inflated price. We said no thanks and left .... and stayed at the Maria Del Carmen (an OK hotel) ... but at least they have, and honor, their rates displayed.

So, if you plan on staying at the D. Alba .... book ahead if you want the "website rates"

This hotel is close to downtown, 5 min walk. It's 600 pesos the night, but you can negociate if you stay more than one night. The woman (not slim, but very nice and smily) is helpful if you ask her about things to do-see in the city, places to eat. The breakfast is included in the price, there is a swimming pool, a bit cold on March 15th. It's a huge hotel, you cannot imagine when you are outside on the street. It's quiet even in the city, buses pass just near by. The market is a 10 min walk. The only problem I had is with the washroom, not so powerful, but insist a bit more and it's gonna work out!

Room Tip: Ask for a room upstairs, but not on the street (some rooms have no windows, and it's noisy).
