The hotel is really beautiful, the location is excellent, prices are great, but the service is really poor.

I screwed it in the date of my reservation and they didn´t help me, I had to cancelled it and pay a cancellation fee, instead of changing the reservation.
The air conditioner was really noisy so it woke up us in the middle of the night and they couldn´t fix it, also the last day we had breakfast and we forgot the credit card at the restaurant and they never told us, we were there for 3 o 4 hours after eating, before checking out, so we lost the credit card.

Gorgeous on the outside, perfect location in the square near the two cathedrals in Merida. The rooms left ALOT to be desired! The owner needs to update all of the rooms!!! We occupied two of them with our family. My husband & I stayed in a room to a throwback of the 50's sitcom...we had our own twin beds!!! The bathroom was just nasty! The sink was clogged the whole time, we flooded the bathroom when we showered! The concierge was an older gentleman who was wonderful & helpful, but he can't do it all!! The restaurant was HORRIBLE! No wonder no one was ever in it! They screwed up ALL of our orders! They spoke NO English, so our broken Spanish must not have been enough! When we asked to see menu & pointed out that our meal didn't look like what was pictured, the manager on duty told us "that is just picture, it no look like that" We wanted a plain hamburger, stressing "pan y queso no mas" that's EXACTLY what we got...hamburger bread & cheese!! No hamburger!!! So if you want an excellent location & beautiful building, then by all means, enjoy...without any standard amenities!

Ask for a top floor room next to the pool. An evening dip with lit cathedral view will not easily be forgotten. The rooms offer good value for money, staff are very friendly and helpful. Aircon is quite noisy, which is the only downside. Superb location.

I spent a couple of nights in this hotel while traveling solo in the Yucatan Peninsula. Good location, close to many restaurants, shops and local attractions. They are very helpful at the front desk!!

Great location with nice patio, free Wifi and small pool on the third floor within a 2 minute walk from the zocalo, Merida`s main square across from the cathedral. The downside is the size of the rooms. In fact the majority of the rooms including the superior rooms on the third floor are so small that there is hardly any space for storing your luggage. There is no elevator, so beware of heavy suitcases in case of being assigned a room on an upper floor. The bathrooms are also very small with the tiniest sink and the smallest toilet bowl I have ever came across in a hotel room. When moving into the room make sure the toilet flush works. It didn`t always in our case. Also check the air conditioner. Instead of the cooling water dripping down on the outside wall it poured down the inside wall and on the bedspread. The Caribe may be ok for a one or two night stay provided you don`t have much luggage, like to climb stairs, don`t need much space and are less than 6 ft tall. In other words ideal for backpackers!

Room Tip: The rooms on the third floor are close to the small pool and the third floor offers a nice view of t...

I stayed five. nights in Nov.2011
As a solo traveller I felt safe in this old, but charming hotel. The price was good, i think it was £22.00 per night. The staff were friendly, the room cleaned daily, and you are two minutes walk from the main square. The bathroom was very old fashioned but it all worked! The food was o.k, but being a vegetarian I'm hard to please!!! Only downside, mob signal wasn't good, and when you returned late at night you had to bang on the ancient oak door till the night porter answered it. Since I wasn't the only guest doing this it could be a little noisy sometimes. I would stay there again , and would recommend it to anyone who likes staying in a building with lots of character and history to it.

Room Tip: There is no lift, well I didn't see one, so pick a ground floor room if stairs are a problem. To...

We traveled on Easter Week to Merida and stayed in this hotel that had been previously recommended by a brother in law. We got two rooms the suite, with two queen beds and a sofa bed, and a room with two queen beds that was on its side. Everything worked well the A/C, the shower, TV, etc... The restaurant had excellent food but a very slow service, especially in the mornings. We were able to walk to many places from the hotel, like the Main Plaza, many restaurants, stores, museums, etc... Also the front desk manager arranged various tours to see the ruins and other nice places.

Room Tip: If you don't like a noisy room stay away from the suite, it is on front of a Plaza and they play...
