“An Oasis in the heart of Meida”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2014

Although it can be a bit noisy at times with the traffic and the locals selling their wears, this little park has a perfece location in front of three older hotels with sidewalk restaurants and shops surrounding it. Sit at one of the cafes and have a cool drink while watching the world go by. If you are there in the evening you will hear live entertainment from one or two of the restaurants. You feel you are truly in another country with the soft guitar music and melodic voices. Service at the Main Street restaurant is excellent Check out the beautiful hotel courtyards. The main cathedral is a short walk and there is another old church next to the park with a museum.
This one of our favorite spots to hang out. Maybe we will see you there some day.

“lovely park with hugh almond trees”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2014

This square is lovely due to the large almond trees and palms, the abundance of seating, sidewalk restaurants and people moving around. We love to go set and enjoy something cool, listen to the live entertainment from one of the cafes, watch the hawkers selling fans and shawls and the general hubub of life. Yes, it is noisy but this is an urban square which is used. It is surrounded by old mansions which have been turned into hotels and a beautiful old church where many weddings are held, go in and see the flowers, spectacular!

A small park but loaded with action.....restaurants, street vendors, couples and families walking. Grab a bench and watch the world go by.

“A sweet corner square”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 24, 2012

A good landmark when walking around Merida central and also has places to take a coffee and just chill out watching people come and go. There are some hawkers and a statue there as well if you want something to do.

“A Walk surrounded by Colonial History”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2012

Take a couple of hours to walk downtown Merida. La Plaza Grande, el Parque Hidalgo, el Parque de la Madre y el Parque de Santa Lucia are all a hundred meters from each other, next to beautiful churches, quaint parks with century old trees. You'll be enriched by the experience !
