Spend some time strolling or driving down Paseo Montejo. Plenty to look at including the Mayan monument in a roundabout, mansions, shops, Starbucks, trees, birds and more museums. Don't skip it!

“Relax atmoshpere in this gorgeous boulevard”
Reviewed April 13, 2014

The Paseo Montejo stretches through an important number of streets that at their sidewalks you can see beautiful mansions and various places to dine and have fun at night. Dont miss the Monumento a la Patria. It is nice.

“Beautiful Walking Street”
Reviewed April 12, 2014

Modeled on Champs Elysees in Paris, it's a big surprise in Merida. Great place to walk, with wide, shaded walkways and some of the most beautiful architecture in the city. Lots of fun restaurants.

“Merida's answer to the Champs Elysees in Paris”
Reviewed April 12, 2014

Don't miss a stroll down the Paseo de Montejo on your next visit to Merida. Most of the guide books tell you to take a taxi there from the Zocalo, or to rent a bike, but actually it's on about 20 minutes' walk (only to be recommended in the winter months I would imagine).

I recommend starting at the southern end, closest to the city center, and walking north along the left hand side of the road where there are a succession of stately buildings to enjoy. The pavement is wide and well kept, and the plentiful trees afford some shade from the sun. The Patria Monument, about a mile further along, is a logical place to finish, and from there it is easy to grab a taxi back to the Zocalo. Just before the monument is a Wal Mart superstore on the opposite side of the street (for those who miss the All American shopping experience).

This street is definitely recommended as part of your tour of Meriada. We didn't actually eat dinner on this street but there are a lot of good restaurants to choose from should you wish to head out this way in the evening.

“A family sunday”
Reviewed April 6, 2014

Very nice family activity on a sunday. The street is closed to traffic and you can even rent bikes. Also some nice restaurants along the street.
