Houses and buildings are nearly all very beautiful and well kept. Many of the buildings are being converted from residences to commercial use. It was almost a shame to see Starbucks, Wal-Mart and other NAMES so gaudily displayed. Hennessey's used small signs externally but a huge sign in the patio.

This is an unbelievably beautiful street. All of these historic mansions are gorgeous. Even the ones that are abandoned are also gorgeous in their own way. There's actually a Starbucks in one of them and I swear it's the most beautiful Starbucks on the planet. Walking this street is simply the number 1 thing to do in this lovely little city. There's a plethora of great restaurants on the street too. I do recommend Roses & Chocolate restaurant tho.

With its wide sidewalks, old fashion street lights, monuments, and landscaping, Paseo de Montejo is a street that no one has trouble remembering. This tree-lined historic road instantly makes a lasting impression. Museums, enormous mansions, and French architecture are accompanied by restaurants, bars, and boutique shops and hotels.

wonderful to drive up and down the paseo and see how the very rich live! Not so easy to walk because of incredible traffic and bus exhaust fumes!

The wealth that was and still is present in Merida is on display on this boulevard's historic mansions. Great way to spend an afternoon walking in the shade of the tree lined sidewalks. There are coffeeshops, shops, restaurants and bars to stop at along your walk.
