The walls are covered in murals that tell the history of the Yucatan from the Mayans to the Spanish conquest. Very interesting, like being in a museum. Beautiful old building.

Free to visit. You can enter even at the evenings if the governor is not in. Amazing murals at the second floor tells a lot about the Mayan history. Do not forget to visit when you are in Merida.

Amazing murals from Fernando Castro Pacheco that tell the story of a turbulent time during Spanish colonialism, the heroic valiance of the Mayan people and the integrity and courage of Hispanic historical figures who helped them at their peril.

Wonderful colonial building and impressive murals. Definitely worth a visit. Poor bathroom facilities though, despite that I really learnt a great deal and it had a nice feel to it.

Beyond the traditional architecture, the striking murals depicting Mayan history and the arrival of Europeans deserve an hour of your time. Beginning with the creation legends and progressing through the Conquistador domination and into the modern era, the vibrant, crisp artworks stir the imagination, and plaques describe the events and the artist's manner of interpreting them. Make it an early stop on your tour through town, and you'll appreciate other sites better.
