Walking past admiring the Christmas tree in the courtyard we thought that we could not go in there but we were beckoned in by a smiling police officer. How lucky we were. The
ethereal type paintings with English reviews told of the history of the Mayan people, the slavery, the Spanish invaders, the wars etc. It made fascinating reading which added to our knowledge.
The paintings were very effocative and the long picture gallery stunned us by its beauty contrasted with the paintings of harsher times. The windows look onto the mains square and
to the Cathedral. The palace is a working area with the governor's offices etc.
Well worth a visit.
