On a beautiful Saturday in January we decided to leave El Centro of Merida and take a cab north (150 pesos) for lunch. What a good idea. The hacienda is an oasis of beauty surrounded by a desert of poverty. We had our choice of sitting inside with AC or outside with the breath-taking views of the grounds, trees, birds and gardens. The menu is large and varied, with all items in both Spanish and English, with emphasis on traditional yucatecan cuisine, which was what we were after. The highlights: grouper ceviche with avocado was sweet and delicate; the sopa de Lima, an outstanding combination of lime, chicken broth, chicken, bits of tortilla and herbs, unlike anything I'd ever tasted before. Don't miss the salbutes, crisp tortillas with chicken, lettuce, onions and some hearty, spicy sauce.......Beet salad......hanger steak......crispy shrimp over pasta with peppers.
The beer very cold; the margaritas were tangy; the service impeccable and we spent 2-1/2 hours enjoying a world class meal. We even debated getting a room, taking a nap and then staying for dinner. The food and setting are over the top!

Save your money, the food is marginal and service is terrible.we were a party of 8 having dinner prior to a performance of the string quarter of the Yucatan, which by the way was outstanding. Back to the review the appetizers and food came in shifts some received their main order before the others received their appetizer two of the main meal orders were not what was ordered. The checks came with tip of 15 per cent noted on bill some with out tip, my visa was not acceptable, we have been in the area for two months. And have never had trouble with this card. Final review do not go. This restaurant was given a glowing review by local reviewer by the name of The casual Ci.
Funny stuff going on ah.

I love this place.
This was my second visit and I started thinking about going back as soon as I found out I was headed to Merida.
It is a jewel of a place in the middle of a plain old neighborhood on the outskirts of town. But folks, it's well worth the trip.
Nestled in an old hacienda, the restaurant is surrounded by peaceful grounds and careful groomed landscaping.
Sit outside. It was chilly but they swiftly moved heaters near to take the snap off the evening.
The menu is wonderful as is the chalkboard of specials. Our group ordered dishes that ranged from my filet, stuffed with cochinita pibil(delicious!) to fish and some vegetarian choices and it was all terrific.
It's a great spot for a group but would be perfect for an intimate evening.
There is also an inn with rooms available.

I actually enjoyed a delicious lunch and came back for dinner because of the service, food and beautiful setting.

I would recommend you have lunch inside and dinner on the terrace where it is very romantic and simply devine.

This is one of the top restaurants in Merida and about 15 minutes outside of historical Merida but worth the trip.
