We just came back from 6 days at the Palace. We had never stayed at an all inclusive & were a bit apprehensive about the food. The reviews we had read were positive & we were not disappointed. This place was one of the best places we have stayed in over our past 8 years of travel in Mexico. Everything was wonderful- food, staff, room, pool, beach, activities & the people we met. You could be alone or join others. September is the perfect time to visit. Being off season, there were only about 10-12 couples there, so it was quiet & private. We loved the couples only aspect. The gym was small but well equipped. We didn't go to the spa but heard positive reviews from those that did. Use credits to do the island tour. This is a place we will visit again!

Room Tip: Get an ocean view room205 was perfect. Not sure if all rooms have the double jacuzzi but the 200'...

Our Fifth Trip in a row. Love the secluded and safe feeling of the Island. The Hotel is cozy and welcoming. The staff are warm and gracious. They will know your name and cocktail of choice the second day. Breakfast and lunch Buffets are fresh and excellent, especially the guacamole. Dinner menu changes every couple of days. Beach is clean and relaxing. The pool area is delightful. Don't miss the Hammock Garden, I could live there. Great value, great time

We spent the first week of September at the Isla Mujeres Palace Resort. We are Palace Premier members and this resort lives up to the Palace quality and standards you expect. The service was second to none, the resort was clean, up to date, and the food - Outstanding! As others mention, this is a small, quiet resort, far from the crowds and noise of the Cancun resorts, but only a 20 minute ferry ride if you want that experience. Being the low season, the resort had very few occupied rooms. The result was even better service and relaxation than we expected - we had the pool to ourselves two days in a row! The friendlieness of the staff and their willingness to make you happy was the best attribute. The Island was clean and safe, and all activities were an easy cab ride or within walking distance. Absolutely rent a golf cart for a half day and explore the island. There is more to see than we originally thought. Don't miss the turtle sancuary right down the road from the resort. Great vacation, great Palace quality and service!

Room Tip: Get a room at the front of the resort overlookin the ocean and closer to the pool side to avoid nois...

First time at this hotel and Island and any hesitation we had was quickly forgotten!!! You know, like going to any new place, most people will be hesitant.

Traveled there in June. The weather was awesome! The Island is sooooo coooL(and safe)! The resort was more than we ever expected!

THE RESORT
Clean, quiet, safe, good service, nice dock, nice pool, good food, awesome rooms/jacuzzi's, workout room, good pool bar.
Such a nice place! We traveled in June and it was great weather. The resort was quiet (18+). Mostly seemed like it was couples. The cooks were awesome, during lunch and breakfast, you can ask for whatever food or drink you want. I got in the habit of asking for burgers and chicken breast and they grilled it so perfectly. The presentation was always really cool as though they took pride in what they were doing for you. These days, that seems hard to get. At least in the U.S.
Some reviews mention the loud beach club next door. I think those that complained are sticklers. Wasn't bad at all. Always able to take a cab into northbeach right from resort. Go to front desk and tell them you need a cab and you've got one within 2 minutes, i swear.

Island
You need to get a golf cart and go all over the island. Just get a cab into North Beach, then ask to be dropped off at the golf cart place. Once in northbeach you can walk the "downtown" and shoreline within 20 minutes. Really cool how small it is. We really did feel safe. It was cool going through the local neighborhoods. and then we stopped at a restaurant on the sid eof some street and that was awesome! The Eastern most point of the beach has awesome walking paths along the ocean. Happens to also be the eastern most point of mexico. I wish we would have gone there to see the sun rise.

Travel from Cancun airport to resort was perfect! Cancun airport: bus to ferry: ferry to Isla: once on isla grad a red cab and you'll be at Palace within 6 minutes. for 4 us dollars!

went on a whale shark trip. awesome! got sick but i dont have my "sea legs" The sharks were huge! and im sure theres tons of vendors to choose from to bring you. Did a snorkeling trip too. Not the best but fun if you want something to do. If you've snorkled somewhere really good before, this wont be all that. Maybe we didnt get a good snorkel spot though.

GO HERE! I could see myself going here in the future with a group. You van rent condos or houses right on the beach for pretty cheap.

THIS RESORT ROCKED!

Room Tip: close to pool room. You'll be away from loud beach club.

We have stayed at the palace in Cozumel in 2011 so I came in with high expectations and Isla Mujeres Palace did not disappoint! Everyone is so happy and helpful, you feel welcome and relaxed as soon as you arrive. They arrange everything for you...so even if this is your first trip to the island you are guaranteed a smooth trip. They pick you up from the airport, take you right to the ferry and then pick you up and take you to the hotel, all included in the all exclusive part of the resort. The food is good, service is great! Cannot imagine staying anywhere else.

This was our 3rd year to return to the Isla Mujeres Palace. We have gone in September for the past three years and this time we stayed 10 days. The resort is beautifully appointed with a limited number of rooms so even in high season you feel very pampered and in the off season you feel like a celebrity. While we were there we only had 10 other couples staying in the resort. The property is small and therefore you rely get a change to know they people you are sharing the resort with and their is a strong family feel to the interactions. Over the years we have made friends with folks who we plan to return with each season. All of the rooms are wonderfully, and you can easily upgrade to the preferred ocean front rooms by using 200 credits or paying 200.00 at booking. I recommend upgrading to the concierge level not only for the view but the other amenities. Many of the people you meet will be palace members and we became members ourselves this year.

The staff is fantastic - the manager meets you at the door and you are greeted with champagne, cold herbed towels and a rose. Shortly after you check in, all of the staff will know you by name and have your food and beverage preferences down pat. They remembered us by name when we returned a year later and even remembered our drinks. Most of the staff are regulars and you get to know them well. Rosa in the Azul restaurant is a sweet heart, she made sure we had sandwiches packed with water, fruit and chips so we would not miss lunch while out for our morning scuba dives. Arturo the waiter, knew I drank black tea with milk in the morning and would restock my frig each day with a small pitcher of whole milk. Edy at the pool bar makes amazing drinks, and he remembers that I always like my welcome drink with only a little rum early in the early afternoon. Ulysses at the front desk is super friendly and can help you book any trip or tell you how to find the best local cafes. Jose at the Azul, knew I drank sweet white wines and even though they were not on the menu he found me some Moscatos and Rieslings to complete my dinner. Jose also recommended great Mexican and Argentinian red wines for my husband. Leo is the activities director and is never without a smile or funny story. He leads the fun little events all day long and is wonderful fellow to talk with. In the off season the hotel can have very few guests and Leo will taylor the events to fit the smaller groups.

The housekeeping staff is wonderfully and would clean our room three times a day - which is hugely important when you are spending most of your mornings diving. We would return from early morning scuba dives and shower and then head to town for sight seeing or some tour for mid morning and then back to the resort in the afternoon. This meant most days we would be showering and using towels two or three times a day and the house keeping staff knew when we where out and would have our room clean and stocked every time we returned. Due to timing we had to scheule our Romantic dinner and a nigh dive on the same day - the staff worked with us to make sure we could have an excellent night dive and then they held dinner for us so we could shower and change before dinner, they stayed and served us on the beach with romantic candle light and the whole nine yards at 10:30pm. They waved at us from the beach early in the evening as we drove by in our dive boat on our way out to dive.

The chef's dinner was wonderful, I highly recommend doing it. The Food and preparation was wonderful. Besides being divers, my husband and I are serious foodies - the chef's dinner as a five course meal with wine pairing was a joy.

This is a small gem of a property and well kept secret in the Palace family of resorts. The Resort is a couples only property with one beautiful pool and direct beach access. While the other Palace properties boast multiple pools, restaurants, bars and activities - the Isla Mujeres Palace boasts a quiet elegance and unsurpassed service. There are no loud parties or throngs of drunken people, the Isla Mujeres Palace is an oasis of peaceful beauty on the bay side of the island. Surrounded by a lagoon the Palace is on the eastern side of the island towards the Temple of Ixchel. You can walk to the National Sea Turtle Preserve. There are taxis on stand by at the front gate at all hours for easy travel into town but we always find it more enjoyable to rent a golf cart from down town. We like to travel around the island and the golf cart is an ideal way of getting here and there.

The only problem is the Isla Mujeres Palace no longer has a dive master onsite to book scuba dives. In 2010an 2011 you could use your credits towards purchasing 1 and 2 tank dives their on property. It made it very simple for guests to do their discovery training in the pool and get a temporary certification to dive the shallow reefs and the MUSA underwater museum sculptures. You can easily schedule dives from the shops downtown (we always use Carey Dive Center on Matamoras Ave) but having access to use your credits for the dives is a big draw for us. The property would be perfect if they allowed you to dive with credits again.

Travel to the Palace is easy - you can book taxi or shuttle form airport (prices vary) to the Porto Juarez (the ferry to the island that leaves every 30 minutes from 6am - Midnight. Ferry roundtrip is about $14 USD) Then taxi form ferry to hotel will cost 54 pesos.

The Isla Mujeres Palace is perfect for people who want the ease of travel that Cancun has without the crazy party atmosphere of the big hotels on the Cancun side. If you want to do night clubs and body shots, look more to the Beach Palace and Sun palace on the Cancun side. If you want to experience luxury in a charming, quiet, little fishing village come to the Isla Mujeres Palace.

We return to this property year after year because we love the quiet peaceful pampering and the small village charm of the island.

Room Tip: All of the rooms look the same and most all our King Beds with Jacuzzi tubs. Best to use credits to...

The room was very good with a great ocean view, but you had to use $200 credits to upgrade. There were only about 15 couples, so you felt like you were at a pampered resort. The wait staff knew you by first name on the first day, and on the second day, they knew your preferences for beverages and food selection. They were very accomadating. The only problem that we had was with the front desk. We asked several times for the mass schedule at the church 2 blocks from the resort without success. So, I went to the room, got on the internet, and found out who to call. The person at the front desk asked if I had the number, which I didn't. I asked if he had a telephone book which he found in the business center and finally contacted the church. When we were departing, we went to pay our incidentals with our credit card, and the person at the front desk informed us that the credit card system was down. When we asked him what he was going to do about that, he told us to use our ATM card. We informed him that we do not use ATM cards, and we did not have enough cash (because we did not bring much since it was an all inclusive resort) to settle our account. Finally, the couple that we were travelling with loaned us the money. I asked if they had an addressograph machine to run our card, but he didn't. Poor prior planning in my opinion.
We had to transfer to the Moon Palace because we had an early flight and would not be able to make our connection of we spent the night prior to departure at Isla Mujeres. We asked 3 times to insure that our credits transferred to the Moon Palace. After arriving at the Moon Palace, we learned that our credits had not transferred. The manager worked on the problem for over an hour, and finally our credits transferred.
The spa is small, but understandably so since there were so few guests and rooms.

Room Tip: I would recommend upgrading to an ocean view.
