We stayed here 4 days in March 2013. I thought it was a really good value. Our room #3 was quite large. The bed was comfortable but they could stand to have larger pillows. I probably should have asked for one. Very nice little area to sit outside the room and visit with the other guests. The location on Hidalgo was the best thing about the hotel. Everything we wanted to see was in easy walking distance and Hidalgo has no traffic so you can just stroll down the street to pick a restaurant. The beaches on that end of the island are just a few blocks away and the ferry is close also. Our room was on the ground level but there are rooms on an upper floor that overlook Hidalgo. The adventurous types may want one of those for people watching. The hotel doesn't provide water for drinking but the shop across the street has that as well as beer and they even lent me a corkscrew one night. The little fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee maker all worked well. Nothing much on the TV but I only turned it on once. The WiFi worked well in our room but we were close to the lobby. I would definitely go back as I had a great time on Isla. If you go there ask about the animal rescue house if you care about dogs. The lady there has opened her home to strays and has saved thousands from a tough life on the streets. Islaanimals.org is the site.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the Hotel Plaza Almendros for 4 night on Februay 2013, it's was our 3rd time there and we usually stayed at hostels but this time we wanted something a little better/ Everything was just great. the staff was nice, the room was very big with a kitchen, balcony and two double beds. the location was just great, its in the main street with all the restaurants and a few minutes walk from the best beach in Isla Mujeres, the hotel has also a small pool which we didnt use, it has free wifi, but in our room the connection was very low, but we didnt wanted to be connected all the time so it was ok. the only bad thing i can say about the hotel is that the nights are a little noisey because of the central location, but im sure that not all the room are like that, our room was on the street, that's way.
We loved this place, and i think it gives great value for your money.

Room Tip: ask for a room not on the street side, to avoide noisey nights

The rooms on the ground floor all face an inner courtyard around the pool. There are three families who are sitting outside on their patios and acting as if they are the only ones in the whole hotel. Crude, loud and horribly noisy, acting as if the courtyard is their private front yard. Could be the Christmas to New Year crowd, as friends stayed here last March and liked being in town.

I will not stay here again.

This hotel is in a great location on Isla Mujeres-surrounded by some fantastic restaurants. Despite these major positives, the place slightly disappointed. It is fairly clean, but the bed mattress is uncomfortable and the pillows are lumpy. The room was nice and sizey, but the television was circa 1987 and the cable was fuzzy. Staff was generally disinterested. Pool was dirty. I paid $75 a night and booked on Priceline. I think I got took a bit on the price, but hey, it was sufficient. Fun trip overall to Isla.

For only 450 pesos walk up rate in high season, this hotel was perfect for us! It boasts the biggest rooms (and bathrooms) I've ever seen in Mexico, and was clean, bright, and had all the amenities for staying a long time. The pool is beautiful and surrounded by tall palms. Lounging in the courtyard felt like being in a hidden palace, right outside the most lively street in town. If you don't mind tavern music, you can hear reggae, funk, and soul in the evenings from your balcony under the stars. The staff made our stay comfortable with welcoming smiles and good conversation. Like being one of the family.

Room Tip: Upper floor with balcony overlooking the pool. King sized and big enough for a full family.
