My friend and I were very lucky to find a beautiful place on a small, laid back island. It was our first time on the island and we immediately fell in love with it. We stayed in Casa Ixchel for 12 days, and the entire time we were there was mostly enjoyable, and relaxing. There were a few things that could have made our stay better: 1) We wanted to do some biking around the island. It was said by our travel agent + other reviews that Ixchel had 2 bikes you can use for free. We never got to use the bikes because they were supposedly being fixed. 2) Water supply was not available a couple times due to plumbing issues, but was dealt with a couple hrs later. We stayed in the Peace room, and later asked to be switched to the Harmony room which had an awesome ocean view. Rooms were clean, toilets worked adequately, air conditioning worked great, and kitchettes were well equiped w/ the basics to cook up something simple. Little things like incense/candles/bamboo plants had a feng shui like ambience to the rooms which we loved. Pool was somewhat clean, steam room worked well for a little while but handyman had to do some maintenance while we were there. This place is awesome for total relaxation, especially after the sun sets-->lying on the outdoor beds is a must. Housekeeping washed the sheets of the outdoor beds once during our stay. Use the towel or robes they provide. The staff was awesome and very friendly.
