We went one day to a different part of North Beach and a gal who wasn't super friendly tried to charge us for our beach chairs after we had been laying there for over an hour...SOOO the next time we hit the beach in front of the Privileges hotel and took the chairs to the right of the hotel area...Jose waited on is and we got margaritas, great fish tacos, and guac and chips...He offered to get us an umbrella, he gave us a table, etc...All in all this is the beach we came back to and will continue to go back to:-))

We visited Playa del Norte every day during our stay on Isla. The beach is beautiful, the sand amazing and the ocean is as clear as can be. There are resorts that will charge you for chairs but there are also places that you can plop down on your own towel or chair that you bring yourself for free. In Mexico the beaches are public property so they technically can not charge you for using the beach but they sometimes “convince” you that you have to pay. There are vendors but they will leave you alone if you smile and say no. We would walk off the beach for a block every two hours to a mini Mercado to get a cold drink at about ¼ the price on the beach.

We had a beautiful beach at our hotel but wanted to experience Playa Norte as well. We walked down with our own towels and enjoyed the clear water with its gentle waves and white sand. When we attempted to put our towels down and sunbathe, we were YELLED at by a staff member from Chichi Charlies. Despite the fact it is a federally owned public beach, we were told that since they raked the seaweed off the beach, we are not permitted to use it unless we rent a chair or purchase food/drink from their restaurant. We would have had no problem getting a bite to eat or drink but we were treated so poorly that we just left. We returned a couple of days later and a different staff member treated us equally rudely. The beach and water are wonderful. The rude staff from Chchi Charlies made it a rotten visit. Stay away until the folks at Chichi Charlies until they can learn some of the hospitality that we found everywhere else on the island.

We were bored at our resort in Cancun, so we made our way to Playa Del Norte on two different days. It's absolutely beautiful! You've never seen such clear water. It is pretty busy, and they make you pay for chairs, but it's beautiful regardless. Playa Del Norte was our favorite part of our whole trip!!

Great place to enjoy the sun, the water, some drinks, and some cool people. Met awesome international travelers there and the scenery is breathtaking!
