“One of the World's Best”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

Beautiful white sand water is crystal clear and you can wade out hundreds of feet. Beach chairs and umbrellas can be easily rented, about fifteen dollars for pair of chairs and umbrella all day. Has a very Mediterranean feel. Bring lots of sun screen and get there early for front row seat

“Great beach. Quiet spots can be found”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

Although this beach is very popular and was crowded when we stayed on Isla, we managed to find quiet spots to lay down two days in a row.
The color of the water is breathtaking, but for us the water was a little cold on mid-Jan.

“Too busy now”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

This used to be a lovely quiet beach. A few years ago, used to be able to move sun-beds around to chase the shady spots under the palm trees. But with the development of the 2 big apartment blocks on the beach, it's hard now to find a quiet spot away from the bars pumping out loud music. Playa Norte is now full of row upon row of beds and parasols. This is 3rd time I've been, don't think I'll be back again. Will look for a resort which has less development.

“Paradise”

Beautiful beach, you can look at Cancun across the bay while staying out of the fray. Some peddler traffic, but no one was aggressive or unfriendly. The sand is as soft as powder.

“White, sandy beaches”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

Playa Norte is the place to be for the "real" beach experience. The water is much calmer on this side of the island. Definitely more crowded and much more "touristy", if that's what you're looking for.
