We stayed two nights in the 203 room. The room is small, but really comfortable for a couple. The hotel is clean, well located and safe. We enjoyed our stay.

This was our third stay at Bucaneros. Bucaneros is excellent value. We submitted two previous reviews of the small economy rooms 103 & 203. As a rule they are sold out of their larger rooms well in advance of high holiday season. We missed the boat last year and had to stay at Maria del Mar, which was sort of disappointing. We wanted to return to Isla this year for Dec 30 - Jan 2, but already decided if we couldn't get a larger room at Bucaneros we'd spend our first 3 nites in Playa del Carmen before finishing up at the beach resort (BeachScape KinHa) in Cancun. Well we got lucky when we inquired at the end of August, they still had Room 202 for those 3 New Years nites with a balcony overlooking the main pedestrian drag below . We immediately said sign us up! It was wonderful, as were our two previous stays. We had a sort of junior suite with two beds, a separate dining/sitting area. Not really a kitchenette, but a nice minifridge, dishes and utensils, an electric skillet if needed, but no sink to do any dishes. Housekeeping took and replaced your dirty dishes daily. Still - no complaints - it was just what we had hoped for. $80 a nite high holiday season on a popular Caribbean island destination - what value! Isla Mujeres is like a mini-Cozumel. Bucaneros isn't on the beaches much loved by many Isla aficionados, but in the center of all the action on the main pedestrian shopping street, yet close to the beaches, piers, etc. Our balcony was a front row seat for the spectacular New Years fireworks display they put on. New years is Big Doings in Isla! We go to Isla and love it for the lush tropical island ambiance, and the long relaxed shallow colorful scuba dives an easy 5 - 10 minute boat ride away. We do our serious beach thing in Cancun (see BeachScape KinHa reviews). All the good stuff we have said previously about Bucaneros still applies. Good A/C, fine housekeeping from a cheerful and friendly staff that absolutely respects your privacy, lots of good hot water to wash, oh yes this full-size room had a nice big bathtub as well as separate shower; lots of good purified drinking water always well-tended in the breezeway on each floor just steps from the room, included continental breakfast of toast and jam, delicious cafe con leche, choice of delicious fresh-squeezed OJ or fruit plate. They give you fine Infintum five-bar superfast complimentary wi-fi. Honestly, they could do a little better on the TV channels - but hey, bring a good book. Apparently they have spun off the restaurant operation to a long-time employee and it is physically separated now from the hotel, but I believe they said we could still charge meals to the room. They also have a little new sandwich shop that looks pretty darn good, clean, and reasonable, we just didn't try it this time around.

As I said we love Bucaneros for the incredibly good comfort, ambiance, and value.

We have stayed with Bucaneros twice this year. Our first time in March, 2011 and again this past September 2011. Bucaneros is a family operated business and you can feel and physically see the amount of love and passion they put into the business. Clean, Safe, and the most humble and terrific people on the island. Great value and perfect location - walk out the hotel and you are in the center of downtown. Once the sun goes down, this is where everyone goes to and you are right in the center. Although you are on the main strip, the noise in the room is minimal and next to zero. With windows closed and the A/C on, you'll sleep like a baby,

We are returning in July 2012 and we will be staying at Bucaneros once again.

Room Tip: Street facing rooms offer a terrific balcony overlooking Avenida Hildalgo

I spent 8 days at bucaneros, room 103. Its a small room, but being solo, it was the right size for me. During the time I was there the staff was very helpful and responsive. I rented a bicycle for the total time there and it was no problem parking it at night in the courtyard. The location was very centralized, close to the beach, grocery store, ferry, etc. I will stay here next time in isla and would recommend it.

We arrived to isla mujeres to have 5 nights of relaxation.
We booked 1 night in Hotel Bucaneros, because we were not sure about it.

We arrived and got a room on the second floor, with a double bed, closet, safe box, private bathroom, towels, AC and a small TV. The room was extremely small (it was the cheapest one, but still cost 50 dollars per night).
We booked only 1 night so we didn't get the continental breakfast (they give it only if you book more than 2 nights).
Although they offer hot water, we both took a shower with cold water.

We were very disappointed considering the price and we went looking for another hotel on the same day (we moved to Hotel Kinich, 5 minutes away, same price and much greater value).
