The shark pools are terrible. They have them tied to a rope and there is nothing thrilling about watching these poor animals kept in such horrible conditions. I ended up in this place because it was next to a restaurant and I thought...sure, why not, I’ll check it out. I was almost in tears. I did not know whether to cry or to starting yelling at people (locals and tourist) for being so ignorant. This is not a fun memory of Mexico for me. If you think this is fun, you have not traveled much!

We were out running around in a golf cart and stopped for a beer and to see the sharks. They had two and said they change them out frequently so they are actually wild sharks that are there for about a week.

We rented a golf cart one day and stopped for lunch at Playa Tiburon. It is right on the beach and the weather was perfect so we sat right on the beach and shared the Tik’nXic fish. It is fish covered in achiote paste and grilled on a wood fire. It was really good and more than enough for 2 people. There is a small pen that they keep a nurse shark in. We didn’t go out and see the shark but the pen seemed way too small for a nurse shark that’s only there so people can take a picture. It just seemed cruel. The prices were a lot higher here than other spots on the island, so for this reason and the shark pen, we wouldn’t go back. Lunch was delicious though.

We stopped for lunch while on a snorkel trip with Lorenzo Sosa. As promised, the fish was excellent. We also ordered some guacamole, which was so-so. The atmosphere was cheap tourist, and the restrooms were just plain disgusting. And they have the gall to charge to use it. The fish is almost worth the trip.

Extremely cruel. Let the poor shark out of the 20 foot enclosure. Also stopped here on a snorkelling tour for something to eat and there were cats everywhere. One got sick 3 times before we ate. Should be closed down for cruelty to the shark.
