this place was kind of hard to find, but we saw it as an adventure and it was great to find it and to had such a great dinner experience. The staff is very nice and polite, and the food was delicious. Fresh fish, love the different ways they cooked our grouper and fried fish. we will come back for sure!

This place is great. Simple , nothing pretentious but really delicious food. We ordered the mariscada (gigantic seafood platter). It has a delicious, perfectly cook octopus, black grouper, calamari, giant and tasty shrimp, and a delicious fried fish that was to die for, everything came with rice with beans, fruits, and other vegetables. Highly recommended! Felipe was our waiter, very nice guy. He said that if we tell the taxis to take us to "colonia electricistas, with el Cubano" then everybody knows where is this place.

As faithful visitors to Isla Mujeres, we have returned to El Varedero repeatedly to soak in the atmosphere. It is truly a unique experience to sit on the wooden deck and watch the boats drift by in the lagoon. This restaurant is not fancy, but it is authentic and transports you to another time and place. The food and drinks are superb - I recommend the garlic fish filet and the mojitos! Also, we tried the guacomole at our last visit and it was the best we have had on the island, hands down.

Hopefully when you visit, Gladys will play her guitar and sing her Cuban songs to accompany your meal. She is wonderful! We bought her CD for $10.00 - you have to ask her, she's not trying to sell them. We just happened to overhear someone else talking about it.

I could sit there for hours, but I would probably keep sipping mojitos, and that would be dangerous!

Left something to be desired. Awesome deck and very good atmosphere just a little bare bones. The crowd was interesting, the beer was cold so we weren't disappointed.
