Owner description: Richart Sowa built Joysxee, the Floating Bottle Island by himself, with over 150,000 plastic bottles. Shown on MTV Extreme Cribs and Ripley's Believe It or Not, the island that floats on bottles is an ecological masterpiece. Everything on the island was built with recycled materials from the three story house, to the out door bar. Come tour Joysxee and meet the incredible Richie, a real life Robinson Crusoe. An experience you can only find on Isla Mujeres.

We visited Richart and his island as part of our golf cart day. It was a great treat to see what can be done with recycled products that usually litter our environment and world. From the Robinson Crusoe like boat ride to the island to the second story all natural bathtub to the solar oven and its continuous baking cake(it tasted great) it was amazing to see his dream take shape. It is a lesson for us all to reduce, reuse and recycle. Richart gives an educational and fun tour of his island. We recommend this for all, especially families wanting to share a great idea/project with their kids.

This was right up the road from our hotel. It is a sight for sore eyes. Recycling is a good thing, but this looks like a junk barge. He charges 1USD for a tour. Basically a bit nutty and making money off of it. Lots of tourists come by because he has been on Discovery and Mtv.

There is a lot one can do on Isla, but for me, making the stop and doing the tour with Richie is at the top of the list. Not just once, but everytime I go, I'm utterly amazed. He's going to be moving the island in the near future, hopefully into the bay of Isla Mujeres. There is a campaign going to help fund the documentation of the move that can be found on Kickstarter called "Filming the move of a floating Island, Joysxee". Check it out!

Unreal experience to view this excentric person's home made of bottles! The whole tour is fun and Richart is a generous host.

Stopped by on golf cart tour of Isla. Definitely different is about all I can say. Owner was busy & we didn't feel it was worth waiting for nor paying to visit.
