Owner description: Richart Sowa built Joysxee, the Floating Bottle Island by himself, with over 150,000 plastic bottles. Shown on MTV Extreme Cribs and Ripley's Believe It or Not, the island that floats on bottles is an ecological masterpiece. Everything on the island was built with recycled materials from the three story house, to the out door bar. Come tour Joysxee and meet the incredible Richie, a real life Robinson Crusoe. An experience you can only find on Isla Mujeres.

Interesting to see once. I found it to be Rather trashy looking. However, He did do his part for recycling.

Richart Sowa has created a sustainable island designed around reclaimable items....plastic bottles. It is quite creative, and worth the visit to see it. His enthusiastic personality is contagious! You'll run into him in town, singing and playing the guitar...quite talented! (Suggested donation to see his house...)

Here's a youtube video about it...

Richart is maybe a little eccentric, but he is trying to decrease adverse impact on our earth. There is much to be learned from this charismatic man. History is full of "forward thinkers" and he may just go down in history for his ideas. Everyone should try to decrease their carbon footprint and Richart is doing this daily.

Not much here to do, but make sure to stop off at take a look. It is a great lesson in trash versus treasure, and ecological responsibility for sure. :) It is pretty amazing to see how it was built!
