We stayed here again in October, 2009 and forgot to write a review. We are headed back in January, 2014 so that was my reminder...We have stayed at Punta Piedra in one of the smaller units - there are 4 - on the ground floor. When we arrived we were informed that the air was broken in the unit we asked for, but since there was no one else staying there we could choose any unit in the building. Since we hadn't tried it, we chose the upper unit with a full kitchen, living room, terrace. It was lovely! Of course the extra views up and down the coast, but also the other side of the island since the balcony wraps around. There are 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. And the air condition kept the bedroom nice and cool. We rented a golf cart to get around this time since it was low season and less expensive. The pool was awesome and even in the past when it the apartments are full, you rarely share the pool with anyone! A very simple, basic place to stay and chill while on Isla!!

Room Tip: The upstairs unit at Punta Piedra has 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and a large living, dining, kitchen area..plus lots of outside space.

We stayed here from June 25th until July 2.. This was our first time to Isla and at first I was a little concerned we were not closer to downtown.. Turns out we were glad we were not closer to downtown.. We loved this location! We did rent a golf cart for our entire stay..

The room was Clean but basic.. It is not fancy at all but for the price what do you expect.. We enjoyed the small kitchen and full sized Refrigerator. The views are freakin amazing..We enjoyed having the pool to cool off..

The owner was wonderful ..we booked thru morningsinmexico and were very happy with the service we received..we loved it so much we just booked another visit to Isla..and we are staying here again...See you soon Punta Piedra :)

Room Tip: The rooms on the end have a king size beds and are a little smaller than they two center rooms with two full size beds..

Over the past 9 years we have stayed at just about all of the Punta Piedra properties; the studios at PP 1, the apartment at PP 2 and Casa PP and do not honestly have a favorite. They are all great and unique in their own way.

On our last visit, in March, 2013, we spent our first week at PP and our last 2 weeks there also. Amy provides everything you could possibly need for an enjoyable stay. It is great to be provided with more than one roll of TP, more than 2 bathtowels and lots of kitchen "stuff". We do a fair amount of cooking, and it was nice to have a good selection of dishes, etc. We found that the other guests were friendly and all were respectful of each other's privacy. One of my favorite things to do was to sit, with a beverage in hand, and simply watch and listen to the ocean

Amy is one of the nicest and kindest people that I know. We always use Mornings in Mexico when booking at Punta Piedra. Marcia has proven, over several times, to be extremely professional, prompt and knowledgable and will go above and beyond to help you out.. And she also happens to be a very nice person.

We look forward to more visits to Punta Pidera in the years to come.

Room Tip: I don't think there are any rooms that are not good. How can you miss with that fantastic view right in front of you.

We returned to IM for our annual new years vacation. We have always stayed closer to downtown so I was a bit concerned about staying "out this far" out. Turns out we absolutely loved it! It was about a 15 minute walk into town or about 8 minutes into the neighborhood area of the island. Taxis and buses go by all the time so if you don't feel like walking you can grab a taxi for around 30 pesos or take the bus for 5 pesos. We were about 15 minutes walking to the new large market, Chedraui.

We stayed in Punta Piedra II in the upper unit. We had a full sized fridge, two burner eletric stove, 20 L water jug, microwave, coffee maker with filters & coffee, toaster oven, blender, sink and of course plenty of plates, bowls, cups, etc. It was perfectly furnished with a comfy king sized bed and dining table with four chairs, and another chair by the sliding patio door. Room also had a TV that was mounted high on the wall and an armoire for storing clothes. There is also a programable safe and an air conditioner (we did not use AC just kept windows open and the room was very comfortable). We had a large balcony with two loungers, a full sized patio table with three chairs and another chair. Room had plenty of towels and beach towels.

As for the beach area it was great to be the only people there. For 17 days we didn't have anyone else around unless we went to Norte Beach downtown. The water is rough here so snorkeling and swimming at this area can be a challenge and is not for the beginner. The ground is rocky so you should have some type of water shoe to wear. It did not bother us at all, with the breeze we were rarely hot. We loved being just a few steps to our room to grab cold drinks and use a clean bathroom. We did not swim in the pool but it was always clean.

If you are wanting a place to stay where you will meet lots of people this may not be the place for you. The time we were there, there were not many other guests---I believe the guests were friends of the owner who were there while we stayed. Housekeeping is also only once per week, but I am sure if you asked and were willing to pay you could arrange twice weekly or more housekeeping services.

We made our lodging arrangements thru Mornings in Mexico and were pleased with our accomodations. There is parking available for golf carts. I would recommend Punta Piedra II. There are lots of great places to eat in the neighborhoods. We explored a lot and found some really fun eateries.

Every time I plan a trip to Isla Mujeres, I look at all the accommodation options, and end up at Punta Piedra again (and will be staying there for my 5th time this winter). For a woman traveling solo, it is perfect. The owner, Amy, is a very friendly woman originally from the U.S. She and her family live just a couple doors down, and it's nice having someone close by who, if I got sick or something happened, I wouldn't have to rely on communicating with in my horrible tourist’s Spanish. Beyond that, the location is perfect - just far enough out of town to be quiet and relaxing, but close enough that you don't feel stranded. It’s about a 20 minute walk to town, or you can get one of the taxis that drive by every few minutes. It is right on the beach on the Caribbean side so you get the sound of crashing waves and the stiff breezes that are partial to that side of the island. There is a private pool for the 4 apartments. Each apartment has its own hammock next to the pool, overlooking the ocean. The apartments themselves are comfy and well equipped - not 4 star luxury, but perfect for a "beach bum" vacation. And the price can’t be beat! There are a couple other places on the island in this price range, but not a single one has all of the amenities that Punta Piedra does. Speaking of price, it will probably be close to your last day before Amy comes around to collect the remainder of what you owe (after your deposit). Don’t fret! It’s just the laid back way things are done on the island. The only negatives I can think of are: 1. The bed isn't W Hotel comfy, but it beats the rock-hard matresses you find in most of the Yucatan, and 2) the pool can be pretty chilly throughout most of the year.
