“PERFECT Vacation at Villa la Bella”
Reviewed May 17, 2008

We just returned from a week's vacation at Villa la Bella. Ashley and Curtis made our vacation perfect. My husband Jim had one comment. AAHHH!

We relaxed while enjoying all the comforts of home. Breakfast every morning was delicious, Curtis loves to cook and it shows. Ashley takes a personal interest in making you feel welcome in their home.

We dragged ourselves away long enough to go shopping or for lunch or dinner but rarely strayed from the villa. When we were at Villa la Bella Jim visited with Curtis and I got to read and relax by the pool. I so rarely get to read more than a page a day at home, I actually read 2 books on vacation. Fabulous!

The pool area was always clean as were the grounds. We stayed in a poolside bungalow with a/c but never had to turn it on, the constant breeze was enough to stay cool. The service was excellent, the rooms are cleaned daily and the bartenders were extremely helpful.

This was the best vacation we ever had and we will return as soon as possible.

Our stay at Villa La Bella could not have been better. Ashley and Curtis were the greatest hostess and host. The staff did a great job and were very accomodating. The location of Villa La Bella was very nice, because it was quietly situated away from the hustle and bustle of the center of town. Listening to the waves crashing against the rocky coast line was such a comforting sound for me, especially at night while sleeping. Our accomodations were quite comfortable and what a great shower to enjoy after a long day. Waking up to a the smell of Curtis cooking breakfast for us was a great treat and incredibly tasty. Our next visit to Isla Mujeres would not be complete if we did not stay at Villa La Bella. We are so looking forward to next year or maybe sooner for a visit to Isla and Villa La Bella.
Thanks Ashley and Curtis for a wonderful stay!!!!!!

Villa La Bella is a must visit B&B. The property will exceed your expectations for sure with the attention to detail that is displayed throughout. If their booked and you can't get a room you have got to stop for a drink at their bar. The only way you can go wrong is by not stopping by.

My husband and I spent 9 days at the "Villa La Bella" B AND B. What a wonderful place. Curtis and Ashley were the perfect hosts. They made you feel as if you were the only guests in their home. Curtis, I gotta tell ya once again, you made by kind of breakfast....LOL. THANKS. Luis and Ernesto took excellent care of us as well. By far the "VLB" has the best sangrita and 1942 tequila on the island -hands down. . WE ARE ADDICTED. . make sure you get a topper of tequila liquor on your margarita. It's the blue round bottle behind the bar. NOW ALL I HAVE TO DO IS FIND THE TEQUILA LIQUOR HERE IN THE STATES...YUM.

There is a constant breeze on this side of island, which is refreshing when you have been where the air is still. We did rent a golf cart for our entire stay however, we were the only ones that did this. The other guests flagged down a taxi...THIS PLACE IS ON TOP OF OUR LIST TO RETURN TO....AND I'M SURE IT WILL BE ON YOURS TOO. WE'LL BE BACK ; )

P.S You must visit the cuban place-excellent food.

We stayed at Villa La Bella for 3 nights and loved it! Ashley and Curtis are fabulous, and do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing. We stayed in Palapa 2, and loved the ocean breeze and sounds of the ocean at night- very peaceful!

Their recommendations for dinner were great- we especially loved Casa O's, Velasquez, and of course, Baseball Tacos! We had fun meeting the other guests and just relaxing by the pool. The island itself is a beautiful place, and everyone is very friendly.

We wish we could have stayed longer, but we will definitely return! Make sure to try a pina colada- they are the best!

I want to thank Ashley and Curtis for the wonderful relaxing vacation my husband and I enjoyed this March. Their bed and breakfast is in reality a shared home.
It is like staying with family only better because you have none of the tensions.
Their kindness and that of their staff is outstanding. We wanted for nothing. I only wish we had stayed longer. Our gratitude and love to all. Witch Hazel

We spent 5 days at Villa La Bella in early March in the "honeymoon suite" and had a wonderful time. The inn is beautiful, built to be open to the sea and the sun, Curtis' breakfasts are amazing and delicious, and the pina coladas are the best ever. Ashley and Curtis are very friendly and we also enjoyed meeting the other guests! One delight was that we arrived late in the afternoon on the first day and were very hungry and Curtis ordered a beautiful Mayan chicken dish for us to eat -- set out in the palapa area facing the ocean -- it was a great way to start the trip!! The inn is right on the ocean (facing the non-Cancun side which is a plus), a short drive from the ferry terminal. We could hear the waves crashing at night from our room (which has two balaconies both facing the ocean -- one in the shade and one in the sun). The room is expansive and lovely and has nice touches, like a seashell showerhead and hemp ropes to stretch out to hang up clothes, etc. The inn has a nice sized pool and while it is on the ocean, there is only a small swimming beach near the inn, which is great for collecting seashells, sea glass, etc. and watching the waves crash. The sandy beaches are on the other side of the island (facing Cancun) which cost about $5 by cab to get to. We spent one day at the Castille del Garrafon (which is a little beach club for snorkeling and costs about $4 per person) and another day at Merida (a restuarant north of Garrafon which has beach chairs/lounges, etc. -- try the garlic shrimp, it was delicious). One day we walked from the inn down the coast to Punta Sur to see the sculptures and walk along the cliff -- along the way we saw the Seashell house -- a house that looks like a conch shell 1/2 way down. (We also went to the baseball taco place about 3 times -- it was fun, a local experience and of course very inexpensive; the Cuba place -- Valadero's -- has great food and I loved dining on a rustic boat!)

I spent a lot of time reseaching where to stay on Isla Mujeres before we booked our trip, and we were very pleased with Villa La Bella -- it's truly a great place to stay on the island.
