We were on our way to Playa Norte when we drove by and told the taxi driver to, "Stop the cab!" With open air seating and beautiful decor, we just had to go. The waiter literally walked over to the cab to greet and help situate us. Unfortunately, it was a little later at night so they were out of the daily special and some other items. We ordered some tacos al pastor, with fresh pineapple and two margaritas, plus fresh guacamole. Best margaritas, best tacos, best guacamole. The presentation was wonderful. The margaritas were so fresh they had lime pulp floating in them. The tacos were simple and delicious. By the way, this feast was $20 for two people, and the margaritas were the most expensive item we ordered. Go and get there early for the best selection of menu items!

We had the shrimp pineapple and the stuffed grouper. There were no pieces of pineapple, a few shrimp and lots of rice, the grouper was ok but the portion was tiny, wrapped in a little piece of tin foil. Really disappointed especially at that price!

Do not wait to go to Monchis until your last night, like I did...go first and keep going back! Ramone is an excellent host and Ziggy is a GREAT chef! (You may remember them both from Sergio's, where their talents were appreciated but underused). The stuffed grouper was the best meal ever I've enjoyed on Isla Mujeres! Friends raved about the surf and turf, the coconut shrimp...just about everything on the menu. It's also a relaxing way to observe local life on Isla. Get there early, it's not a place to eat late- you'll want to relax and have a delicious drink for dessert!

We luckily got there just in time and got the last table. Food was good and it was fun sitting right out in the neighbourhood street and watching Isla life.
