Staying in a casita within walking distance of Deysi & Raul's El Charcol Restaurant, it came highly recommended by locals who live on Isla. We were NOT disappointed in this clean, family-owned, friendly little restaurant!! Six of us sat outside on the small patio to catch the evening breeze and we were warmly welcomed by the owner, Deysi. Would highly recommend the empanadas (large and easy to share), and delicious tacos. You can order 1, 2, or three - and we got the pork with cheese. Delicious! Very reasonable prices too!
The food comes very flavorful, but is not spicy. Sauces are available, which can be added to your meal to make it as hot as you like! Sides are also available.
Sitting on the corner in this Colonia neighborhood, we felt like locals as we watched the neighborhood activity! This was a wonderful little discovery and I would encourage everyone to try it. Be advised, check to see when it opens - it was 7 pm the night we were there and we had to wait a few minutes. (We just got a cold beer from the small grocery down the block as we waited.)
