I'm a bit torn on how to create a rating for Fenix - I'm between a 3 and 4 but am rounding up assuming it may just have been an off-night. We went to Fenix for tapas and music. The chicken skewers with mango chutney were good and the goat cheese stuffed piquillo peppers were absolutely fantastic. That said, the shrimp ceviche was some of the worst I've had. The music started off relaxing but turned awkward with screeching guitar after about an hour so we decided to leave. It was unfortunate because the outdoor venue is actually quite lovely. It's such a calming, comfortable, casual environment by design. I had really wanted to stay longer because Saturday nights are actually supposed to be pretty fun at Fenix, but we didn't even make it until 10pm, unfortunately.

I've been to this beach bar several times and have always enjoyed the live music, the atmosphere, the location, and the GINGER MARGARITAS! This time we tried the food as well and we were pleasantly surprised. There are a variety of appetizers to tide you over and we especially enjoyed the fish ceviche. We ordered several different appetizers and each one was better than the last. Next time we'll have to try a meal! This is our favorite spot on the island.

We checked out reggae Saturday and Salsa Sunday while we were there on our last visit. We had never gone to Fenix before so it was on our must do list due to the rave reviews it has had. The setting was fantastic...open air and on the beach in front of the Avalon. The music was also great and they played from 3-5 both days. In my opinion that is a perfect time of day as you can be out enjoying the beach and/or under the palapa enjoying the music. We didn't eat any food there but saw plenty of it go by and it all looked good and they had tons of choices on their menu. The service was very friendly and we will certainly go back the next time we are on IM. Fun times!

We went to Fenix in the evening for tapas and a few drinks. The setting is lovely - beautiful, beachfront location with pretty lighting and relflecting pools. We ordered the panko shrimp with mango chutney, the sweet peppers stuffed with goat cheese, the spanish sausage in red wine, and the spiced potatoes. The flavours of each dish were fantastic but our tapas arrived cold. The young Canadian girl serving us was very busy visiting and talking with some island friends and it seems that our meals were ready for some time before they were brought to us. On a small island with as many dining options as Isla, there is not much room for poor service, particularly when there are only 3 couples in the place. It was a shame because the food was very good, and would have been excellent if served warm! Our drink glasses also sat empty for half of our meal. We will give it another go on our next trip but will hope for more attentive service.

Excellent location. Great family beach. The outside mattresses are spacious and comfy...spend about 20 pesos in F & B and theye're comped. "Sunday Funday" is THE place to spend a day getting rid of your hang over and there's always something going on.
