“Inexpensive”

Garrafon de Castilla
Reviewed February 7, 2014

This is a very inexpensive way to access the natural reef at Garrafon. (50 pesos) You can also rent fins snorkel and mask. It is the classic Mexican budget place. It is a little tired and run-down, but It is "real Mexico". For 50 pesos, you cannot complain!

We really enjoy this beach for hanging at for a day. It is a bargain. No one ever mentions this, but it has the best flowers and iguanas on Isla...and there is a banana tree near the hotel...very cool.

Same fish as I suspect the Natural Reef Park up the road has, but well below the cost. Beach is shells, ouch! watch your step! What can ya do tho', they wash in with the tide each day.
Never visited the Natural Reef Park up the road, so I can't compare. Had fun snorkeling at Garrafon de Castilla, but did not try the food.

This is a simple but very nice place to go to snorkel. Entrance has cost 50 pesos and you can rent snorkel equipment and but food for the fishes although groups of fishes will come up to you anyway. There are nice lounge chairs and a changing room. Nothing fancy but very relaxing.

A fun, quick stop for some snorkelling right from the beach - inexpensive and they have snorkelling gear for rent. The beach is very small, but we were lucky to arrive as someone was vacating four chairs under an umbrella. First time in, the snorkelling wasn't bad - the fish come right up to you because they're used to being fed. The second time in, my husband and daughter saw an octopus which swam into a barrel, and out shot a ray -- that was the highlight of their day!
