“Snorkeling & Lessons Learned”

Garrafon de Castilla
Reviewed July 24, 2013

Don't rent a locker - the place was safe and the lockers were ridiculously overpriced. They are clearly feeding and making money off of fear. The scuba gear was not the best but it was dirt freaking cheap. This place shares the same reef as the "official" Garrafon but it is a small fraction of the price. We saw sooo many fish, a ray, and coral. Note that the sand is rocky here, you will not want to go barefoot into the water at all. Overall, a cheap and fun experience.

A little off the beaten path, but worthy of the trip...next to the Gararafon water park and nearly across the street from "The Joint". Only 50 pesos for the entire day. Food and beverage on site. If you're taking pics of you in the water, make sure and buy some fish food to sprinkle in wile you're in...be ready to be surrounded by hundreds of beautiful, hungry fish! Great family day.

We saw literally thousands of fish here. It was a great place to swim and snorkel. Also, there are shady areas to sit, relax, enjoy a beer, etc.

Went here twice in June/July 2013.

The beach is small, but when we went there weren't many people neither, so space was never a issue.

Many fishes in the water, but not too many different types. Bring some food (e.g. pieces of a sandwich) in to the water and the fishes will surround you! Didn't see any corals, but some kind of wreck at the seabed.

The prices for entrance, rent of lockers and equipment are low.

Parking available without charge.

I loved this place! It was only 50 pesos to snorkel including your beach chairs and umbrella :)
We saw so many fish and even got to feed them. They sell fish food for 10 pesos. They also let you rent snorkeling equipment for the day at a reasonable price. I had my mask with me so I rented the fins and a locker for only 60 pesos. The staff was really nice and helpful. We didn't order any food so I cannot rate that. We had a blast that day!
